[IMG] So I downloaded this "upgraded thief stronghold" mod...sheesh.

This new Mae'var and his goons make killing the Draug Fea gang look as easy as drowning kittens. Mithrest Inn? A cakewalk in comparison.

I'm playing an assassin, and naturally the first thing I want to do is establish my stronghold. So, yadayada, steal the necklace, kill the wiz, steal the documents, kill Embarl, etc.

Then Mae'var. Wow. He's been upgraded to a thief/mage, casts every single protection spell imaginable before you even see him, hastes everybody...I was even going to resort to cheese and run up the stairs, but then I noticed this nifty little message at the top of the screen when I enter the room: "You have to kill Mae'var, there's no going back now." So no cheese.

My party is naturally low level, and it took like 8 reloads.

    Man. Just thought I'd share...

Actually, IIRC, Mae'Var is a thief/mage without any mods. But his Shadowmaster Armor prevents him from casting spells, so him being a mage is quite pointless. Still, your description of the new and improved Mae'Var & Co. much tougher.

I'm not sure why you haven't casted dispel magic to deal that haste effect. Plus a silence spell would be pretty handy if you ask me...

No, I don't have that mod not will have it.

They removed his armor for the mod. And IIRC he does the improved invisibility/SI-divination combo. Nasty.

I didn't have enough dispel spells (the baddies come from every which way), nor the time to cast them. I ended up loading up on webs and entangles, then hitting them with poisoned arrows from the assassin, regular arrows from my tank, with the occasional fireball for good measure.

Not terribly creative, I know, but it worked in the end.

Mae'var's got a few nice goodies on him once it's all over, as well...

Via the link to the Solufein mod. (Whole bunch of download-able goodies therein..)

You still get the armor, btw, + a pretty decent ioun stone. And Mae'var comes with an uproariously funny, and appropriate, portrait.
