Heh, inspired from the "How do romances work" thread in the SoA section of the site, I was wondering how YOUR romances work.

Mine? They usually start with a rather odd way of flirting...I make the chick almost hate me, and then suddenly change my approach so the girl is totally confused, but intrigued. Then once the initial flirting has been successful, I go in for a date.
Depending on how the date goes, I'll either call the girl the next day and tell her I had fun and schedule the next date; or tell her that I don't what anything serious.
After a few dates, and a few bases covered, if I still really like the girl, I'll ask her if she wants the relationship to get more serious. If she says yes, then life is just peachy; but if she says no, I tell her that our continuing the dating scene is useless and expensive, so we usually turn into good friends.
Back to the "she said yes" part. After this point the relationship grows and we grow closer together. I don't dump people for stupid reasons, so my relationships usually last for awhile...which is were I am now.

    So, how about you? :rolling:

Much the same except for the being mean at first. I seem shy, because I'm really mellow so girls like to talk to me because I'm not overbearing.

With my current girlfriend we went on a few dates and it gradually turned into something serious. I'm enjoying it I know that.

For me it works this way:

    1) She notices me and gets the initial impression
    2) She really, really likes that first impression. With some help, it's turned from usual meaningless flirting to something more personal, which goes with light speed.
    3) The flirting gets quite daring, verbally and physically and it also seems ere the sun sets that we've known each other for ages. When I was younger, I used to think I was in love at this stage.
    4) Something starts, officially or not, spoken or unspoken, depends on the particular case, in the meantime it's beginning to look too much like paradise returned.
    5) She suddenly realises that there's more to a gentleman than being charming and more polite than the average joe as well as that there's more to empathy than making her feel good and there's a bit more to a mentally well equipped person than witty remarks and also that physical attraction isn't all that important (which is actually a good thing for her to learn, anyway). In short, it's not like in the first picture. Time to get a guy who would be natural, unpretentious, smell like a real man, speak like a real man, beat like a real man, show her her true place as a woman. And, apparently, this here goody guy will surely be childlishly happy to see her back when she reconsiders if she reconsiders (really, really unfounded assumption). Afore notice? Or any notice, for that matter? Bah, after all, honesty and trust works one-side only, doesn't it?

That's about it. The only exception is that one hasn't tried to come back yet.

The current romance, however, appears to be very different, even though I have finally learnt to deal with delusions, and I must confess that I am truly surprised. But I'm still a realist - it looks too good to be true. Time will show.

They never work they end in about 3 months the most. SoCo must have some bad luck or something. They usually end in a harsh way too. Nothing simple either, losts of aruging and yelling. One time it was a 3 word sentence and that was all. But For me nothing works out right.

(Geeze that post sounds soo depressing)

Well, in my game, the romance options seem to have been disabled. Hmmm. Maybe mine is the romance-less version?

Still, I have enough NPC interactions to keep things interesting.

Wait. We're not talking about BG? :p

:D (In any case, living my life is like playing BG w/o the romance) ;)

Wow, I guess some people really don't have a life outside of the game. Just kidding!

@SoCo, you eventually find the right girl for you. If I can do it, anyone can! :rolling:

There are two keys to understanding real-life romance:

    1) There is no save-restore.
    2) There is no Shadowkeeper.

Alas and alack, a lack of a lass...

Anyway, everything I ever needed to know about dating I learned from Quests for Glory IV and V. Give many gifts...exhaust their conversation links...and don't flirt with the competition. Much better advice than anything from BG2!

My romances never seem to work quite well. I'll guess they're buggy :D

I am too strange to manage to have a normal romance. It seems like i have the romance mod installed and all the wrong people seem to be attracted to me :borg: .Maybe i must change my approach, but then again this means i must change and i don't want that  .In fact i do really thing that the character in the RPG games i play is trully me a ranger, a lonely cowboy (wait this is another movie)

Let's say, my life is the romanceless version of a mix of Tomb Raider and BGII. And that's the way I like it, becuse I know that relationships are just a waste of time.

OT: Polish and Russian cartoons on a Greek cartoon channel is sick as hell.

I usually get close to her for a couple of months and then I'll ask her. But already by then I'm in the hated "friendzone" so I usually just get a broken heart.

If I even bother anymore, I end up realising that no-one else will do and going as cold as a dead salmon. So... not so good. :)

    Quite simple really:

    1) First contact. Cold as usual, most people I meet mistake me for a pretentious guy who look down upon them. (which I'm not, my folks tell me I inconsciously developed that facade as a protection in this high school full of jerks I went to)

    2) Getting to know each other. As time passes and we begin to talk, she realises I'm not the bastard described above.

    3) Actual romance. Classic stuff, dates, playing trivial pursuit all night long, cooking contests, theatres...

    4) Adding the physical relationship. If you are not 18 or above (21 in some states) you are not allowed to enter. :)

    5) Bitter End. She says she wants marriage, kids, to know my family, my phone number... we part.
