I've tried "turning off" the option under the settings settings but for some reason I am still connected with the BGEE & BG2EE games???
Is there ANOTHER setting somewhere I don't know about???

What is it connected with exactly ? AFAIK the only online synching that happens are the cloud saves which you can turn off under the gameplay section in the options.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I play the steam version. It automatically puts you online. You can choose to join other games or make your own of course. You have the option of making it password protected and or on a "local network game". This is all of course if you choose "multi-player" game. If you choose single player mode your not online afaik.

Ah, i see. you could start Steam in Offline mode so you don't have to connect to the internet for it :
(note that i copy pasted this from the internet and did not actually test it since i don't have the steam version myself.)

I tried that. All it does is show you as offline to your friends list :(

You could try finding the baldur.exe file in the folder where steam puts the game and try to run it directly, to see if you can circumvent steam entirely that way.
