    is it somehing like this?:
    weapon: 1d2 +A
    str:B

    roll: 1+2+a+b=x

lets say the stats are these:
    longsword: 3d6 +6
    str:25

    3+6+6+25=40

    or is it

    2+2+2+a+b=x
    with stats:

    6+6+6+6+25=49

    plz explain this to me.....

I didn't know stregnth affected how much damage you do in that way (17 stregnth = +17 damage) or my sorcerer (19 stregnth) would never do 18 damage with his staff. It would be 28

(you would do well to read the rules. No "u"s or the like)

    Anyways...

1d6 means 1-6. One 6-sided dice is rolled. All other modifiers (for strength, spells, magic items, etc.) are added.

A +1 mace wielded by a person with 10 STR means 2-7 damage

    2d4 means 2 4-sided dice rolled.

    3d6 means 3 6-sided dice rolled.

1d10 +23 means 1-10 damage, then add 23 for the final result.

See the charts in the appendix of the manual to see the correlations between Strength and damage.

thanks for the warning and thanks for the help.

hmm.....so a weapon with 3d6 dice would do 3-6 damage + any other extra damage granted by the weapon for example 20, that would add up to 2-6 +20=23-26 damage.....

    then you get damage bonus......17

    3-6+20+17=40-46 damage.

then i know how to calculate to an extent.....
i will check some weapons and look at their damage thing. i will check it out and experiment ^_^

i still dont know how my kensai with foebane+5 and cromfayer could do 88 damage.......oh well...my kensai did 44-46 damage after i re-loaded anyway...must be some glitch or something....(and no, i didnt kill trolls or those cromfayer instant kill things...i killed imps, dwarves and goblins).

Actually 3d6 means 3 times 1-6 damage, so that comes 3-18 damage + all other modifiers.

And about your kensai's high damage... you may have scored a critical hit, which makes double damage.

critical hit does 2x damage, some weapons have chance to inflict more damage (for example 5 percent chance to another 20 damage)

    3d6

first number means number of the dices the comp will be throwing
    d means dice
second number means number of dice's sides: 6 means 1,2,3,4,5,6 can be thrown

3d6 means you throw with 3 six sided dices, so you can get 3-18

(Edit: Why am I writing this, Harkle, when you're so rude to post when I'm... RARGH!) ;)

    thx for the help...^_^

so a 3d6 weapon with +20 and a char with 17 to damage does:

    (x+x+x)+20+17=x
cool that could be a total of
18+20+17=58 damage at maximum.....(not counting critical hits)

then i am a step nearer to make a better char ^_^
