Take out some of his minions first. Send your henchman in and attack him from a safe distance. Make sure you stock up on potions.

[IMG] Ah, here's a really cheesy way to do it. (The last bit anyway.)

First, kill all the other monsters and the golems making the lightshow, so that you're only left with Desther. Second, get a panther familiar. (Hopefully you have that one already, if not... Ehh, I suppose this tactic won't work.)

Then all you need to do is let the panther and Desther get into battle, and stand near the panther. Desther will be killing it quickly, so you'll need lots of healing potions. As soon as the panther's HP drops below half, drag a potion on to the panther and heal it. Repeat as necessary. You should also be firing missiles at Desther from a distance and frying him with magic. He should go down pretty quickly.

[IMG] Hail fellow spellcaster! My advice to you- multi-class as a ranger. The ranger-wizard makes for a powerful supprt to a barbarian or fighter henchman. Let Daelen (who should be your henchman unless you get the Greater Swordsman's Belt, in which case you should go henchmanless) take the brunt of the attacks while you pincushion Desther with arrows. Cast a Ghostly Visage on yourself and any other defensive spells you have, and when Daelen gets paralyzed (which will happen at sometime or another because of Desther's paralyze spell) charge in and fight. You will be very dangerous as a warrior-defensive powerhouse.
