Help with soundcard stuff

    [​IMG] I need a new soundcard to play NWN with sound. So, I understand they are plug and play, and I really don't need help choosing one, but installing it. How will I recognize the card? Times I've had other PC's open before I didn't see anything other than RAM that went in and out. Wahts up?

    Well, all soundcards look more or less the same, so once you've bought a new one just look inside your computer and take out the card that looks most like it.. :D

    Oh, and your speakers should be connected to it, if nothing else helps.

    Sometimes your motherboard has its own sound card within it - so there won't be one in your PSI expansion slots (that's where all your graphics and LAN cards go; little black slots on the motherboard). Just stick your new card in any expansion slot so its speaker holes stick out the back of your computer, screw it in the little hole, and then it should work. Run the install program off of the disc which came with it (if it doesn't have a disc, download drivers from the manufacturer's site. If no drivers there, live with Windows POS default). Then you're set to go.

    You'll have to disable the on-board soundcard in the MB config.
