[IMG] Can anyone help me? My primary character (a cleric of Talos) suddenly quit using ranged attacks. When attempting to use his sling or a missile-type spell, he walks up to the target and launches at point blank. He doesn't seem to have any curses, etc... What is going on????

U might have a script accidentally turned on.
Go to his Face screen. Chose "customize" and Choose "script".
Turn of the scripts if he has one of them on.
Hope that helps. Else we find something else :)

    EDITED HERE.

Record screen. Thats it. Sometimes I think my memory has suffered a nuclear meltdown. I think I need a magic Memory +2 too keep up.

Has he got any ammuniation to use with his ranged attack. Soemtimes they will revert to melee when a quiver runs out even though there is more in another quiver. Also I guess you are talking about a Sling (as its a cleric) but there is a throwing hammer and I think this can be set to melee mode.

Finally, if it isn't anything simple, there are different types of scripts you can get. these control how the character behaves. To check yours, select the character record screen, chose the customise option (sort of bottom right), then select the script option. You will see a number of scripts to chose from in the panel in the left. To make sure he does nothing silly make sure 'none' is selected. He should now do what he is told.

I had a problem once when my character's range of vision was reduced to zero. He would act a bit like that. The cure was to cast Heal or Cure Disease on him (the regular heal spells don't seem to work). I think it is a known issue, as I read about the fix elsewhere.

Just to add a bit to Ethan's post. Some Mephits in Irenicus Dungeon, and the Shadow Dragon have innate abilities that blind you (a small srossed-over eye on your portrait). If you are blinded you get the +4 penalty to your THACO and you can only attack from point blank.
