I admit I've been a bit naughty in not uninstalling all the mods correctly. A quick run-down of what I think I've done:
1)installed SOA and TOB, followed up by a few mods, in the correct order (fixpack, tweakpack etc.) then completed SOA with no problems.
2)decided I wanted to play BG1, so installed that, then Tutu (using TOB) then a couple of ease of use mods etc. Played BG1 all the way through, again with no problems.
3)Wanted to import my character into BGII to continue the story. Unfortunately, this is where the trouble started: the game crashed as soon as I got to the loading screen for Irenicus' dungeon. Figured it might be something to do with having mods from BGTutu active on the imported character, so I saved his stats using the Char Viewer with the intent of making a new character and Shadowkeepering the stats and spells in. Still no luck, crashed in the same way.
4)Uninstalled BGTutu, and DELETED the BGTutu folder from my program files (I realise now that may not have been a good idea). Followed that up with uninstalling TOB and SOA, DELETED that folder too, then reinstalled SOA and TOB, followed by just the patch and G3 fixpack. Still crashed at the same place.
    5) Uninstalled it all, deleted the folder, and reinstalled it, but now without any patch or mods at all. The problem STILL happens! I'm at my wits' end, got no idea what might be wrong or how to fix it, except that it's probably something to do with not uninstalling the mods properly and just deleting the folder instead.

Is there any way of getting SOA/TOB to work on my machine now, or will I need to wipe it? ANY help would be really appreciated, not being able to carry on with my super mage, or even start any sort of BGII game at all, is rather saddening! :-( Thanks!

You might have better luck asking at the forums for those mods, as I expect a modder would need to examine your situation in more detail to figure out what exactly went wrong...

Crisis over: installed it again but in a differently named sub-folder of Program Files/Black Isle, and it runs fine now!
