What the heck is going on with the city of Neverwinter? The only merchant selling healing potions seems to be Sand, and I would rather not deal with him, since his prices seems to be screwed up (charges double / pays double)

Anyhow, potions are kind of expensive, healing kits give much better return for the money; but I could find none of these (in the Docks and Merchant quarter). Are we supposed to just rest after each fight? Or should we go back to Highcliff/Fort Locke and reprovision (which I am not sure even is possible). WTF?

I just rested when necessary in between fights to regain HP. Potions were for use when necessary during fights and I used healing kits early on to heal diseases.

So, you are basically forced to rest, even if it does not make sense from a RP perspective (let's say that you have to clean a house of thieves. What, are you going to take a nap after you finished with the first floor?). The lack of healing stuff is the second most annoying thing in the game so far. First being autorest on travel between areas.

If you do not want to rest, then have someone in your party with healing spell abilities. Healing potions and kits aren't exactly scarce, but they're not really plentiful either.

I ended up with lots of both at the end just because I didn't use them very often with resting and both Elanee and Zhjaeve in the party.

Well, I have Elanee, but her spell slots are usually too valuable to use for heals (except for the first level) I would much rather have a lev II flame weapon than a cure medium wounds.

It is not only about RP, is also a matter of balance; if you have infinite resources (ie, you can rest at any point) the game becomes trivial. OTOH, if you have too few... that's not fun either.

You can't rest at any point. There are certain places where it's not allowed at all; and as long as there are enemies nearby, you can't rest either.

What "nearby" means is not obvious, because I could see where the monsters were on the mini map due to the Track feat, and it was certainly not obvious when I would be able to rest based on radial distance :)

Just a thought though - did you check at the Temple of Tyr? Maybe the priests there would sell healing potions. There is also a Temple to Lathander, but that's in Blacklake, so you can't get there 'til later in the game.

Bah, I am in Chapter 2 now, in port Llast, and did not find anybody selling healing kits in the meantime. Oh, well. Just means that I have to do with Elanee's spells and bardic regeneration. And lots of memorized stoneskins :(

Kind of makes the Heal skill useless, too. And it's counterintuitive, I saw heal potions for sale, and I would think kits would be much more common.

The merchant Galen in Fort locke has an umlimited supply of Healing +1 kits but only if you rescued him from his mutinous guards. Note his conversation tree does not include a "show me what you have for sale" option when you start to speak to him but one does eventually appear. You have to repeat the conversation every time you visit him to get to the merchant screen.

Also despite what Galen says about moving on he never leaves Fort Locke and is still there in Chapter 2.

The merchant Branson in Highcliff also has a limitless supply of Healing +1 kits.

Both of these merchants disappear in Chapter 3. I'm fairly sure I found a merchant selling +3 kits in Chapter 3 but i cannot remember who or where.
