[IMG] 7600GS or 7600GT? - that is the short version of this post.

The components for my next PC are close to being finalized. At last.

Already purchased components are NEC ND-3550 DVD-player and Antec Sonata II case - it looks very pretty just sitting on the floor doing nothing! :)

The remaining components will be bought at the end of this month:
Hard drive: WD Caviar SE16 250GB
    Motherboard: MSI KN9 Neo-F (550)
    CPU: Athlon64 3500+ (AM2)
Memory: Corsair VS PC5300 1GB (two matched 512MB)
OS: Win XP Home (I'm still using win98se!)

That leaves the graphics card to be decided.
Until a few days ago 7600GT was on the top of my list, then I found out about the advantages of the 7600GS. Much lower price and natural silent cooling solution.

    The cards I'm considering are:
    - MSI GeForce 7600GS
    - MSI GeForce 7600GT
Both with passive cooling and both "reasonably priced". The GS is naturally easy to cool, but what about the GT? Has it been reviewed?

It's pretty similar setup as the one I bought some seven months ago, except that I went for Seagate and 100% non-genuine Wintows. Check out the CPU: you should be able to get 3700+ for a reasonable price by now (the same price as 3500+ seven months ago).

I also went for MSI GF7800 GT and it has worked like a charm thus far.

Is it this card you have: http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.asp?sku=322008

Unless someone tells me that the noise from a particular graphics card is so little it won't be noticed in the rig I'm building I'm going to chose a card with passive cooling.
I'd like to read a review of the MSI 7600GT I linked to above because I'm concerned with the effectiveness of passive cooling on the GT.

Note that I'm going with AM2 and not 939 and I can't find a 3700+ for that socket. The 3500+ appears to be the best budget choice at this moment.

Edit: I see now that you wrote 7800 and not 7600. :xx:

You could buy yourself a 6800 series GForce for around $100, but if you want the 7600 series I would go with the GS over the GT.
