    Hello All,

I've been playing the OC (no SOU or HOTU) and find it a bit dull.

I understand that there are user modules available but the only ones I can find require SOU and/or HOTU ... neither of which I have (or plan on purchasing).

So can anyone recommend some good modules that I can play given my lack of official expansions as noted above?

I'm running the linux version and it is patched to v1.6.8.8099. I also noted that some modules require a certain version of NWN. If mine is greater does that mean I have to downgrade to that lower version?

Also I'm a noob at installing modules so any advice will be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Check out nwvault.ign.com

You can look in the NWN Files section to find modules. From there you can search for modules compatible with all versions of the game. There's over 300 choices, but the quality of those may be questionable. The best modules use SoU and HoTU. Many also use the CEP (which you may be able to download -- you can look that up on the site as well).

Na. Although I would seriously recommend thinking about getting SoU and HotU.

Anyway, at a quick glance throught he NWN-only mods, here are the ones that I've heard good things about (have played some, but not all):

    Thanks guys ...

I had browsed the vault a while ago but didn't find much so I'll take a look at your suggestions.

Also stumbled across a mod (or is it a 'hak'?) that apparently allows me to access my henchman's inventory (and other AI stuff). Is it any good? There is a linux install but does anyone know if I can install it whilst I'm halfway through the OC or must I start all over again?

And one last thing ... I note that the modules say what the "Min/Max Character Level" is. I've never run a NWN module before. Does that mean that the game starts me at that level or do I import an existing character (assuming I have one suitable)?

    Cheers

The inventory HAK is a must if you're playing the OC. You should be able to just install it and when you load NWN again, it should function. (Works that way in Windows at least.)

And yes, if the mod lists a Min\Max character level, you'll need a PC of that level. Some mods have auto-levelers in them, but some don't. you can use the cheat console to level up, and there are some mods that let you level up (some, may need SoU and HotU.)

Like the others, I would recommend getting Sou and Hotu. You should be able to get them pretty cheap, and they add a lot of functions and feature that the vanilla game doesn't have. plus, the OC is BORING as heck, where SoU has something of a story to it. HotU I'm still playing so I can't comment on it yet.

Most of the better mods will level you up to the right level.
