ok, 5 greater mummies, a boatload of tough skeleton guys, 4 zombie lords and the Idol. this fight is the hardest I have had by far.
how can you beat these guys when the mummies keep casting emotion-hoplessness. my entire party is just sitting there crying while they get the crap kicked out of them.

not to mention the petrification and death spells the idol keeps throwing in there.

In this area, I found that once the Idol was killed (broken) the rest of the monsters died. Have a mage cast Invisibility 10' radius while the rest of the party have him surrounded. Turn off the AI (to prevent your party from attacking too early). Walk in to the area and surround the Idol. Blunt weapons work best. Have everyone in the party attack the Idol. If you have oil of speed have several of the party use it. Also use the best weapons you have.

Use your theif to stealth, and then Backstab the Idol....should work wonders for your problem.

Here's how I beat that map: I had a stealthed thief creep over by the idol. Then I cast Spike Stones, decloaked my thief and led all them baddies back through the Spike Stones. It was tough, but it worked. The idol, which I kept out of view for my attack, was now all alone and not so tough. I also had haste and prayer cast on my party.
