[IMG] What combinations have you come up with in the game? How is it working out for you?

I just started a new game...(My paladin was getting boring) I made a human rogue/barbarian who is currently 2 Rogue/ 1 Barbarian...He's actually pretty fun so far!!!

I have hime dual wielding a rapier and shortsword. With weapon finesse/amibidexterity/two weapon fighting, he's a fairly powerful foe.

A Barbarian/Sorcerer is actually really cool to play with.
    Good magic, good fighting. :)

Right now, my first time through I'm using a monk/rogue, currently levels: monk 12/rogue 2.

Its pretty efficient, he can fight, heal himself, and find and disarm traps, and pick locks... the stealth is unbeatable. I don't need stinking Tomi.

Oh I have to say, even though its only rogue 2, the extra 1d6 sneak damage added onto the monks already high unarmed damage is an ugly ugly thing.

I'm a paladin/cleric ... and I'm with you Bel, its getting kinda old.

I almost restarted last night with a Ranger/Mage (elf) and was also considering a Druid/Rouge (halfling or half-elf I think).

For the mement I'm having fun with an elf Sorcerer/paladin, My weapon of choice are the longbow and The greatsword, i'm now testing her with the greataxe... The idea is to use her paladin abilities for better weapons and the CHA for saving and attacking throws...

I tried a monk/cleric, but, maybe it was just because it wasn't a flushed out character, but I just didn't care for him. I've played a fighter/barbarian/ranger as well. Very nice indeed, but I only played him though a module to test him out. My current character, and the one I've played the longest, is my tiefling (in apearance only) monk/rougue assassin. Like art said, very cool character. Right now, he's a rouge 4/monk 8. Again, unbeatable stealth, good fighter, especially when equiped with Daelan. He gets up front, then I deal out my damage +2d6 atm sneak attack damage. He can cast from scrolls and use wands. A really good all around character. Eventually he's going to be 5 rougue/15 monk (what would an assassin be without a quivering palm attack?)

    [IMG] Having great fun with my Sorcerer/Rogue/Bard. He's half-elven, and a 2 Sorc/ 2 Rogue/ 9 Bard.
    Absolutely awesome.

The Ranger 15/Rouge 5 worked really well for me. Having the sneak attack ability and having some disarming traps and picking locks made it so I didn't need Tomi as a henchman so I could pick other stronger guys.

[IMG] Wow! The game is actually easier than it was when I was playing a pure paladin!!!

    I'm playing a multiclassed Rogue(3), Barbarian (1), Fighter (1), Aemon Pelivar...My character has the following stats: STR: 14, DEX: 18, CON: 10, INT: 12, WIS: 9, CHR 14

His sneak attack does 2d6, he has the barbarian dodge/rage and rogue's uncanny dodge, plus the power attack feat as a fighter!!! I think I'm going to take 1-3 more levels of fighter, then the rest will be rogue. I want to pick up the cleave feat to round out his combat abilities!

He has high use magic device score, so he can use wands and scrolls, and he's pretty decent in combat...With Daelan Red Tiger as an NPC, I haven't had much trouble. I may start going it alone to see if it's harder...

Bel, won't you run into the EXP penalty for having classes set up like that?

My current Paladin/Cleric would benefit from some fighter levels (for discipline skill and extra feats) but I don't want to loose 25% of my experience.

[IMG] I went through the game like katana through butter finishing as a 10/10 Fighter/Rogue, with Daelan as henchman. A sad experience. The only battle that even remotely resembled a challenge were some 5 mercenaries, all fighters, that ambushed me in Chapter 2 - and that only because I was pretty low level, and wasn't really used to (ab)using Knockdown. Oh, and Klath the Ancient Red Wyrm was pretty tough, I actually had to use the Stone of Recall several times throughout the battle, mostly to revive Daelan.

Apart from that... Nothing. Balor Lord? Knockdown. *ahem!* Tragedy of modern society.

    Stupid game. :(

Bel won't be suffering an XP penalty for that character as it is currently if his race is Human, Half-Elf, or Halfling. But, yes he will if he takes more than one more Fighter level without taking any more Barbarian levels...

    [IMG] I'm a archer(7), cleric(4) and fighter(1)

The fighter is chosen because I need his weapon specialization skill.

Now I can shoot 3 arrows in one attack. Conbine them with piercing arrows, well, you get the killing idea. My average for archer per normal attack is 30+

My cleric is for healing and those stat boosting spells.

I'm just not clear what do you mean by the exp. deduction, since there is more than enough for you to go killing around. I think if you killed every creature(or near to it, you'll be at level 25(if you can)

BTA ... sorry that I'm a 3E dummy ... my paladin/cleric (6/8) human could take 1 level in fighter (or another class) and not suffer any exp penalties?

(I need that fighter level, the goblin king knocked me down and I really need some discipline skill points ... plus a few feats wouldn't hurt anythign ;) )

[IMG] I suppose I'll just have to live with the xp penalty...Because I don't want to take more Barbie levels, and I will probably only add 1-3 more levels of fighter...the rest will be rogue!

I'll let you know how it turns out! ;)

Mat - No. Basically, as a Human, you eliminate your highest level class from consideration. Then, you get no XP penalty as long as your remaining classes are within 1 level of eachother.

So, for your Paladin(6)Cleric(8)Fighter(1), you consider your Paladin and Fighter levels. They would be 5 apart, so yes you'd get the XP penalty.

Any word from people who have dealt with the XP penalty ... does it really take away from game play?

(I'm so curious about this today!)
