i am going to buy a new system one of these days, unfortunately from a very crappy page so i can not copy pasta the specs in here but if you follow this link you can see it

as it is a very long time since and i haven't kept myself updated in the hardware business i would love some thoughts/comments and the like

the price is in DKKR and 1$ =~6 DKKR

the computers are a bit more expensive then in most other places i guess.

about the price range, it is not really that big of a deal, but i am really looking for value/money here, and the option to upgrade later

    thx in advance

Well...according to Google, that system is about $800 USD, which isn't bad for a system with a C2Q, 4GB of RAM, and a 9800GT. I mean, there are clearly better parts, but for $800, it looks like a pretty solid system.

One thing I'd make sure of is that the RAM is 2GB x2 and not a single stick of 4GB. :rolling:

well it is 2x2 gb of ram, but i would think it would be better with a single stick for future upgrades no?

and damn i wish i lived in the US, the rig is over double as expensive in Denmark it is around $1700

    thx Kitrax

and what about the gfx card? is 512 mb too small?

i have found another pc with these specs:

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 / 2.66GHz / FSB1333 / 12MB
    Socket 775 G31 chipset FSB1333
2x2048 MB DDR II SDRAM PC2-6400
    2 GB ATI HD 4870X2 TV-Out PCI-E/DVI
    500GB 7200 RPM SATA
    10/100/1000 Mbit netcard
    7.1-channel soundcard
20x DVD Brænder +/- Dual Layer SATA
ATX Miditower sort/sølv, 800W Low Noise PSU
    Diverse drivere

it is about about 100 dollars cheaper, with a new gfx card with 1,5 GB more ram but also another HDD

The first motherboard is meant for two Graphics cards running at full speed 2x16 in SLi .Do you want to use 2 cards or just one. If you want to use one a less strong Power Supply unit can be used.

Loose the augidy soundcard and take newer xi fi based. Beware, the extreme music is a fake xi fi

512 mb is enough is you keep the resolution normal. There is a memory tread in this forum for info.

I would advise for a motherboard whit chipset p45. That is socket 775 for the current duo and quad cores. The p45 chitpset is semi-high end and upgradeable. Combine it whit a dualcore like the e8400. For graphics the Ati cards rule price performance. Nvidia has more power per card.

Combine the motherboard whit(going up in performance and price) an Ati 4850, nvidia 260, ati 4870, Nvidia 280, ati 4870x2. I choose the 4850 for its price performance ratio as a bottom. If you are going to game on that 22 inch srcreen, that is.

A dual core works better in games, for now, compared whit a quad core since many games are not optimized for multi-cores. Later you can upgrade.

You want 2 sticks of RAM to enable dual-channel mode. If you only have a single stick of 4GB, it creates a bottle-neck. :rolling:

Balle, I would seriously consider either buying the setup elsewhere or assembling it yourself using edbpriser.dk or somesuch. 10.000DKR is just . IIRC http://fcomputer.dk/ is pretty good and cheap.

Also if you do end up assembling yourself, take into account that a lot of the components can often be a lot cheaper if you buy them through German or British homepages. Backside is that tech support will be more difficult and take longer though (considering that you have to ship the stuff out of the country). When I assembled mine I bought some of the components through http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ and I have only good things to say about them.

I'll also second Merlanni's advice to go for a dual core instead. the E8400 is fast, cheap and OC very high (if you're into that).
