[IMG] I'm playing for the first time NWN and I'm on the first chapter of OC. Anyway, is there any use for the fire beetle's bellies I keep coming across or should I just sell them?

I also came across a Gargoyle skull, can I make anything with it, or is it useless as well?

    Thank's in advance

Typically you can use such things to make other stuff. Especially if you're a wizard.

I can recall that a Gargoyle Skull can be used as an ingredient to make armor at one of those smiths that makes stuff for you.

Well, I'm playing as a Paladin so I guess I can just sell the bellies, but I'll keep the skull for later.

Since I'm asking about items... Is any of the jewels (Amethyst, Diamonds, etc) used to make armor or weapons?

Gargoyle skulls can be used to craft a decent armour for your Paladin early in the game.

If I remember correctly, in OC, among the jewels, only diamonds can used as an ingredient for crafting weapons. But other modules that makes use of the crafting skills have certain gems that you can craft into armours or weapons.

The skull is used to turn leather +1 into a good but heavy armor. Save a few skeleton knucks for Ch2 to visit a merchant witch with. They are small and easy to carry.

The blacksmith in Chap. 1 will give you a book listing the ingredients he needs to make magic weapons and armor. Ingredients include things like diamonds and gargoyle skulls. He shows up again in Chap. 3 where he can make even better items from pretty much the same ingredients, so it might be a good idea to hang on to multiple diamonds, etc. for use in Chap 3.

In Chapter 2 there's a magic item merchant who requires you to give her a reagent before she'll trade with you. Reagents are things like quartz crystal and fire beetle bellies.

The only time I thought these misc items were useful was the quest involving a certain mage's tower (prolly the one Old One is talking about). I never really figured out how to use an alchemists table, even the one in Luskan where imps were fighting the blood war, where you can supposedly make powerful items.

I just walk passed the trail to her place and head to the druid merchant's backyard. There's 4 fernberries you can pick. You can use that to enter the Eltoora's store.
