Okay- done with BG series. I didnt play any of the unofficial addon/mods. Are they worth a shot?

I'm about to uninstall BG from my PC. Apart from the MPsave folder is there anything else I should save so I can use my old team should I decide to return to the game in a year or two?

In a word: yes. I would strongly recommend playing with at least a few installed. It shouldn't be too hard to find a thread in this forum with popular mods being recommended. There is quite a range available; you should be able to find some that you are interested in.

The save files should have all the information the game needs to allow you to return to them. I must ask though: why bother? There isn't anything you can do with the party after the game is over, so you'd need to start anew anyway. Additionally, if you do decide to give mod NPCs a go then you would be using different party members.

Don't bother uninstalling BG, or BG2. You will be back... :)

By all means, you can not discover the true fun of BG without trying mods. I have played the unmodded game only two times. Then I discovered the mods and became an official mod freak. BG games have a very large and ever developing modding-community. Just visit some of the modding sites, such as Gibberlings 3, Black Wyrm's Lair, Pocket Plane, Spell Hold Studios etc. Why, there are so many different kinds of mods, I am sure some will just suit to your tastes!

Mods make BG a fresh, exciting, and still developing game. With every new mod, the game is more interesting and new. So my advice is, do not uninstall it, get a bunch of mods and play again! I am sure you will enjoy it and feel like playing a new game.

That's very true - back in the day when I played BG1 I would never have dreamed that I'd still be playing it and BG2 years later, and it's the mods that breathe new life into the games.
