Final Battle(ouch, obviously spoiler)

How the hell can I possibly beat this guy? The Slayer himself hasn't been much of a problem, but the four demons are tough. Minsc cannot scratch them with only a +2 sword, but I cannot reload any previous games. Jaheira has a +4 staff, but doesn't last long against a concentrated effort. The best I've done has been to kill one demon and severely injure another. My main character is a sorcerer...I was thinking maybe a few simulacrums would help...but it's not worked so far.

 

I personally had to summon up all the creatures I could (up to my limit) before the battle occurs. Once it starts, I ignore Irenicus and just concentrate on the demons... yes, they are tough indeed!

Only after I've taken out all the minions to I bother going after Irenicus. Then, I sort've kept avoiding him until I was able to get rid of all his protections... once he was exposed and vulnerable, I had my entire party jump him for a seriously deserved ass-whooping!!!

 

I found that Summoning a Feind in this case is very useful.

 

I found the best method that worked for my last party was to 'haul ass' to one of the ramps that lead to the stairs (stairs that lead to the lower levels to get a 'key').

In this position you can have your foremost fighter then turn around and face off the pursuing Demons. The pursuing Demons focus in on him and only him as well as find it hard to get by him to the rest of your party. Meanwhile a short distance away your other party members are RANGE attackers/Healers for your main guy as well as 'Spell Divers, Breach Casters, Pierce Casters, True Seeing etc'.

Of course even before activating the last 'key' on the door I had cast Haste,Bless,Chant,Prot f/Evil,Chaotic comm,Potioned up my Fighter, etc. ya know all the BASICS -just to ensure a 'whoop' ass victory.

 

if you have clerics cast bolt of glory. demons don't like it much. 2 or 3 will kill each of inny's new friends.

 

I managed to kill the demons, tough, then found Irenicus/Slayer. I figured it would be easy. Uh uh. I worked the bastard, but ran out of spells and such before he came close to dying. Minsc panicked, Imoen doesn't have many spells, Aerie ran out too, Cernd was nice for a little bit as a G Werewolf, but turned to stone, my sorcerer did a ton of damage...but the bastard was regenerating faster than I hit him. RRR. I'll try again when I have an hour to spare and am not so frustrated.

I only had Imoen and my sorcerer in my party when I beat it. What I did was made all the demons come after Imoen. She ran off to the far right and as soon as the 4 demons were close enough, I had her cast invisibility and run away. The demons can't see you. Meanwhile, I had my sorcerer running around with spell turning on trying to avoid the slayer. Imoen caught back up and the slayer went after her. My sorcerer made 6 earth elementals and we pounded the slayer together. Don't think I did this on the first try; It took me about 5 tries.

 

Ouch...I've made only 3 real tries, the best of which lasted an hour. I can't take the frustration of fighting that battle that long more than once every few days.

 

Before I open the door, I summon a few kobolds/skeletons... since it doesnt really matter what kind of creature... but it's better to keep the stronger for later.

Once the deamons are busy fighting your beasts, run away, as far as you can. If you are lucky, only Irenicus is going to follow you. Summon some anti wizard shade(Nishru or Hakeashar) around him. It is very difficult, for him, to kill them. Don't forget to summon some mound shambler(if you have the staff), and some elementals. Then, while he is busy fighting the monsters you summoned, rush him with your main character as a slayer and all the fighters you have.

He should die

 

Yeah, Fire Elementals are sooo good in this case as are any monsters when dealing with tough opponents. I find that they get killed a bit *too* quickly though
