[IMG] Well I thought a wicked and evil thief dualled into aa most evil cleric could be cool.

So I leveled up up to level 9 in thievery, then dualled into a cleric.

At last he reached level 10 and activated thief class.

Now he can hide in shadows and back-stab with a good club+3:peacekeeper. (funny)

I was really really willing to try out the evil only cleric spells, mainly Slay living, Harm, and Destruction. I thought they were very useful.

    WRONG!

In IWD, unlike BG2, when you cast such a spell, you cast it directly on the victim, as if you are casting a healing spell. This is bad as the smart enemy autamatically turns to you to land a powerful blow which disrupts you. BAH!

I liked the way it worked in BG2. You cast the spell to yourself, your hands glow with dark magical energy, and you need to hit the enemy with it to unleash the destructive force!

Why did they implement it this way, I have no idea.

How can a cleric hope to cast this spell succesfuly on an active enemy?

I think I really do not know how to use these spells. My stoneskinned/mirror imaged bard and F/M/T were baiting two ettins, while the creepy C/T sneaked to the back, and started casting a slay living on one of the ettin.

Immediately the ettin turned to him and hit, for a good 34 damage! His AC was too good too, wearing elven chain, 18 DEX, a +4 AC shield, pro from evil two times, and Shield of Faith, yet the stupid ettin managed to hit and disrupt him!

I need your ideas. I feel very unsatisfied with my evil C/T. He can not do anything.

My bard is superiour, heals the party with WCoS, uses a Moonblade, with an Elven Chain+4, tons of spells thanks to that bardic item in the shield slot.

My F/M/T was weak initially, now with right spells he is really tough. He has 20 DEX and 17 CON thanks to a robe, his back-stabs hurt and he can cast level 5 spells!

My paladin is good, he can heal himself and others instantly for good amount, kicks good a**, and protects himself from evil.

My F/D is kwell too, summoning nasty elementals, healing everybody, and fighting with the best of it!

But C/T...he tries to cast a deadly spell and gets disrupted...Aww! I pity him.

What should I really do? Say?

Never played an evil cleric myself, but circle of bones seems to be an useful evil spell, especially in combination with sanctuary.

You can improve your cleric's AC much more by casting improved invisibility (+4 AC),
entropy shield (+6 AC), DUHM, ...
So you should be able to get her AC so low that only a critical will hit her.

I don't think that your ettins are intelligent, most monsters are only scripted to attack the nearest enemy.
So you might be able to avoid the turning around by making your battling bard or FMT stand closer to your enemy than your cleric will get when casting.

Maybe C/T can choose good position while under sanctuary and then cast Slay living.

And we would like to know, how things are going. I think that I will experiment with C/T later to.

Hmm. I don't know. Enemies seem to automatically target the priest when he tries to cast a 'touch' spell directly on. I guess the priest needs to be the CLOSEST to be able to cast the 'touch' spell, so...which makes the victim instantly target him! Agh!

Improved Inv. is a neat idea! Does it also allow extra back-stabs?

Ah, and I really should try Circle of Bones then...

What can be the highest AC possible with all combinations of armor, a very good shield, and all spells?
