[IMG] Last night the was an Earthquke in BIRMINGHAM!?? I myslef didn't feel it considering i'm down south, but jeez. I thought it wasn't possible over here considering we're nowhere near a plate boundary. The nearest is Iceland I think. Anybody from up north (Britain) feel it? It was 4.8 on the richter scale. Only a few houses fell down.

[IMG] I enjoyed it quite a bit. Pity it didn't do what it was meant to do - DESTROY BIRMINGHAM!! :D

[IMG] Our Geography teacher had said on Friday that England NEVER will get an Earthquake more than 2 on the richter scale as we are miles from a plate boundary, next lesson, a 4.8 Earthquake in Birmingham and a loda of thirteen year olds sniggering at her

I was up in the wee hours of er ... midnight? doing me homework when it struck ... damn, first i thought it was bin ladies having a go at us ... i mean, i heard a rumbling and with the last earthquake/tremor happening a decade ago and with this whole middle east business going on, what could one expect? I mean, i live but a few miles from GCHQ!

After sitting there for a er ... long time, say 5 or 6 seconds, it dawned on me that i may have been dreaming ... i think i was :p Until everything was confirmed the next day ... my lucky bas*** of a father slept through it! Talk about damned logs!

Earthquakes rock!!! :thumb: I lved in southern California for 15 years, and witnessed what they can do up close and personal.

Up here in Utah there hasn't been a major earthquake for hundreds of years...and geololgists say that Salt Lake City is over due for a major quake. I can't wait!!! The damn fools here won't know what hit 'em! :rolling:

Wait the destruction of Salt Lake City?

    Sooooooooooooooo...

Do you not like them taking out the nudity in Titanic, or the Bloody-hell! graphic scenes of Private Ryan, or what?

Where in the world did that come from??!?!!!?!?!?!

Other than that, I was going to ask if anyone else has a flashlight that kicks when you turn it on?

I was using my 1.5million candlepower light Sunday night, so that might have been it...

lmao!!! That's going to be a funny sight. My house is completly quake safe. After we moved from CA, we took all of our earthquake protection things with us. One this is for sure though: the state capitol will be totally distroyed unless they start restoring/quake-proofing it soon. :rolling:

[IMG] Hello, I'm gonna be really annoying and point out that the epicentre of the earthquake was in Dudly, not Birmingham. although Dudly may become part of Birmingham due to urbanisation, at the time Dudly is not In Birmingham. (Our A-level geography teacher told us all this when we said it was in Birmingham!). I slept through it though! Takes me a while to drop off, but when i do it takes more than a 4.8 rictor scale earthquake to get me up! (I live in Derbyshire, so it would have been stronger that Dorset!)

It's just rated up to a certain level.

Like a heatsink that's rated up to a specific chip speed.

    *Do not exceed 5.3 Richter*

    What's the other scale?

    Yamma-motos? Hiroshis? Tsunamis?
