The biggest province (population wise) in Canada is holding a provincial election tonight. Will the right wing Tories be able to take advantage of a split left wing vote between the relatively middle of the road Liberals and the far left NDP? Or will the province end up with a half baked minority government that will be able to accomplish little other than guaranteeing another election in two years? Or will Ontarioans forgive the Liberals their innumerable sins and give them a majority government? Tune in tonight!

My prediction is that it will be a Liberal majority.

The anti-business, pro-government waste, leftist Liberals. IMHO, this is a dark day for Canada as a whole, as the scandals and waste of the Liberals were utterly flagrant.

To be fair, though, the Conservative leader Tim Hudak was just this side of incoherent. He resigned after the loss.

You do realize Tory isn't necessarily synonymous with fiscal responsibility, don't you? Like for example, Allison Redford?

Snook - in that Splunge posted the following morning, "guessing" a liberal majority, I felt I knew the answer without having to ask. :p

Would any one of our Canadian SP members be kind enough to give me a quick run down of what all parties represent?

Tories, conglomeration of small c-conservatives, money bag men in Toronto, far rights from the older Reform party.

Liberals, centrist, which a lot of Canadians dismiss as a kind of self-serving fence sitting.

NDP, left-wing socialist. Lots of wonderful dreams to create a better society, but their proposals usually beg the question of how any of it will ever be paid for.

That's a somewhat snarky way on my part of saying the gist of it.
