My 21st birthday soon, guess I should be more excited about it, as it is I'm just worried it will be the last year I see my grandad. He's been told by the hospital he will have to go into hospital soon and he will have to be in there for a very long time. They haven't even told him why yet. Part of me is hopeful that they have finally found a donor, but surely they would say something? He could get a call at any time to say he needs to go in and he's been told family will not be able to visit. Could mean Christmas without grandad which just wouldn't be right, he's a central part of the family and he's the reason every child in the family looks forward to visiting Grandmas' house.

Grandma is also having a rough time, she's had her back go for the first time today and she was stuck in bed for hours in pain. The EDS in the family has been relatively mild in her, it's only affecting her in later life and I know how terrifying it can be to wake up in pain and unable to move past a certain part in your body. First time it happened to me I was paralysed from the neck down so all I could do was call for help, could be interesting now I'm living on my own! Also one of the reasons I'm hoping Kev gets a job round here soon and we can get a place together, he's already had to help me with my back twice and we've only been together since April.

With Grandma having more trouble now, my mother still on crutches and possibly needing surgery and me only just able to get my hands on painkillers it's beginning to feel like this thing is waiting until each family member is isolated and affecting them in horrible ways. When I moved into uni halls - shoulders started dislocating and I was pretty much confined to my chair for the year, I stay for two months with my boyfriend and my step-father is away on business my mother injures her knee and can't walk, my grandad has to go into hospital and my grandma starts having trouble with her back. It just doesn't seem right.
