Well... after some serious thinking, I realized that having the 300-pound Powertrip on my good side could actually be a good thing... if she trusts me, it then makes plunging the dagger of ambition in her back so much more easier. After all, the best betrayal is when the other party never sees coming... so much more shock effect, so much more devastation. Ah, the beauty of it, it brings a tear to my eye. And before anyone plants a "backstabber" label on me... it's all about respect. If I don't respect someone, then I'll have no qualms about stepping on/backstabbing the said person. If I know, trust and most of all RESPECT that person, it's a whole different ball game where doublecross of any shape, form or kind becomes outside my code of conduct.

I've heard rumblings on the horizon that my bro might switch to day shifts. This could foretell that he indeed is getting the promotion. If he does, good for him. And although I had to step down to give him the spot, which is something I'm not terribly thrilled with, because I really wanted the damn promotion, I know that down the line, somewhere, my bro will step up to the plate for me and return the favor.

And it also looks like I'll once again have to train a new employee. Worst, I'll have to form that person in both cash register, but also in orders so that I'm not stuck finishing a botched job someone else did. I am known as the God of Floor Work, and there's a damn good reason for that. That poor SOB better pray to his/her lucky stars to never have to work with me. I don't have the time nor the patience nor the skills to train anybody... not to mention I am known to be an old-school hardass. Like that former new guy -- I was busy doing floor work and noticed rushes at various times, but only helped if absolutely necessary. The only way to learn something is to experiment it, and the more one busts their ass learning something, the quicker one learns their craft, and the more perfected it becomes, simple as that. I learned the hard way and so will they, because I'm not paid to babysit.

Back to becoming assistant-manager... possible plans for school include changing towns, and I could get transfered, and step up to assistant-manager at the same time. Seeing as my bro is destined to hold the position, I must say the idea sounds damn good to me. But, there is an X-factor in the equation... and this very same X-factor will determine which plan will be set in motion. Time will tell, and opportunity might just knock someday, and when it does, I'll be there to greet it warmly.
