This is about how many times you can die in the Fortress before getting the Game Over screen. All this only applies to the Foyer of the Fortress with the Greater Shadows. Once you get past that area dying once means Game Over.

Basically, however many party members you have when you leave for the Fortress (including the Nameless One) is how many times you can die without the game ending. If you have a full party when you leave (six people including the Nameless One) then the game will end on your seventh death.

Also, each time you use one of those "war relics" and you see a cutscene of one of your party members dying, that gives you one extra life (except for Annah's death cutscene). But if you use a war relic and don't see a cutscene of one of your party members dying (because you didn't bring that party member to the Fortress) then that will not give you an extra life. The party members whose cutscenes give you an extra life are Grace, Dak'kon, and Nordom. Maybe the reason Annah's does not give you an extra life is because her cutscene is the last, and once you get it the portal out of the Foyer will be open. And of course Vhailor and Ignus have no such cutscene.

So, if you bring a full party (including Grace, Dak'kon, and Nordom) and manage to pull the levers on the war relics the game will not end until your tenth death. If you go to the Fortress alone you will die on your second death.

I never died In the fortress of regrets so I never took notice of how dying works there. I do recall hearing something about dying and staying dead.

BTW is there a way to pervent Ignus from turning on you or does he always take TTO's word over yours.

[IMG] erm - I died, like, loads of times without game over. Unless I used the immortals blade thing. or killed myself - when the shadows got me I survived - same with battling Ignus - when I say survived I mean not game over...

It seems this also applies to the battle with Ignus/Vhailor.

Unless you can remember that it was actually more than 9 or 10 times, that doesn't necessarily contradict what I've said.

Do you have a save game right before leaving for the Fortress, or while in it (before touching the crsytal)? Because you weren't really keeping track of your deaths... I don't know... 15, 10... can you really be sure guessing? I tried multiple party sizes multiple times (and since your last post multiple difficulty settings) and always for me the results are as I would predict.

[IMG] I don't know - maybe the patch or something changes it. I just know I don't think I had a death limit.

    There should be shrug smiley.

I think the fight with Ingus can be prevented when you are evil, but on the other hand you'll have to fight Vhailor then.

What if you kill them both? Does it prevent the fight in the Fortress?

Killing Ignus/Vhailor before going to the Fortress has no effect on your battle with them in the Fortress.
