Right, I recently bought a region 1 ntsc dvd, and for some reason when I put it into my p.c I get audio but no visual, The scren is pretty much black. However, on the little inbetweens, as in, a title that appears before the show starts, i get those fine. E.g the dvd i bought was called Saikano, and before the feature starts a little title saying "saikano" comes up. Well i could see that crystal clear. But everything else is just black. The FBI warning appers ok too. I can even get to the main menu, except, like I said, the whole screen is black. I hold my cursor over one of the features in the menu, then that appears, but when I take it off, it dissapears. I treid this dvd on a friends player and it was fine, so it cant be the dvd

The dvd player i'm using is "InterVideo WinDVD" version 4. I have tried downloading some new div x codecs and intalling them, but there has still been no change. I have also looked for a patch for my player, but I can't seem to find one.
So I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this problem before and might know how to combat it? Or simply can give me some helpfull information on the matter.

Try using windows media player. Or perhaps just buy a new DVD drive. They aren't that expensive. Also, try playing the DVD from the beginning. Then take it out of the drive and put it back in and see if it will play. If you do decide to get a new drive, go to www.newegg.com and get the ASUS DVD player. It's a really good drive. It has a strong tray motor and a good belt, so it opens and closes fast and smoothly. It works perfectly and is very quiet. And it doesn't cost very much either!
