Odd. I'm just seeing a blank dragon age news page. It says Game Info, News and Updates at the top of the page, but there isn't actually any news or any update included.

Filtered out due to Americans' delicate sensibilities?

I don't really understand what is meant by uncut? Who would want to "cut" a game?

I would guess uncut means uncensored, as in, you will see boobies during the game's steamy moments, instead of medieval underwear.

[IMG] The news is in German only; you need to select the German flag in the top right corner to switch your language to German.

    This is the news text:

What it means is that DA2 will also be rated 18+ and hence won't be censored in any way (blood, nudity, etc.).

Or it could mean uncut compared to the US release. My version of Dragon Age has an 18 cert for the blood but it still has stupid underwear. It's common in Germany for games to be censored so they can get a lower rating. Which makes financial sense from the company's view, I doubt they're going to the cost of doing new character models so they can reduce their sales.

Please note I'm guessing, I couldn't find anything on a quick google search to confirm it. From an article I read a few years back Germany has big restrictions on shops displaying the top rated games so it's common for games to be cut. I presume this hasn't changed so I suppose it's news for Germans to find out if games are unaltered. It's interesting the way ratings go in different countries. At the outset of making Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball Tecmo considered whether the girls would go topless but quicky decided against it as a load of American retailers wouldn't stock it (not by law, company policy). Europe would be more relaxed on nudity but will crack down on violence a lot more. I remember nunchucks used to be taken out of UK games but they seem to be letting them be shown these days.

[IMG] Boobs are good this side of the gender barrier too.

This story suprises me. I've seen many, many games and they always, ALWAYS have a separate build for German, with no blood. I figured it was law rather than a choice.

I wonder if Germany will ever see a Wolfenstein game as intended, with Nazi iconography all over the place?

That won't happen because Germany has laws against the displays of Nazi paraphernalia, in whichever context.

Here has a good summary of Germany's laws, click on the Germany section obviously. If a game gets the highest 18 cert then "it becomes illegal to advertise the games or even review them in an age-unrestricted medium, display them on store shelves, or sell them to anyone under 18." So the law doesn't actually ban them but it'll absolutely murder their sales.
