Are you sure you are not rushing into it, joacqin? :p

Most dogs are pretty high maintenance, and need a lot of attention, so I know what you mean. Still, at the end of the day, it's well worth it.

Born and raised among dogs, my father has a small kennel. The more familiar you are with dogs the less likely you are to get one I think almost as you know just what you are getting yourself into. At least if you plan to take good care of your dog. So many morons with dogs who have no idea how to handle one. What I do miss though is to have a hairy little idiot that absolutely worship me, nothing beats the ego boost you get out of being greeted by someone so happy to see you that they wet themselves a little :D

    In memoriam: Bela

Bela, my beloved canine died of old age. :( I loved him, and I already miss him. He was kind, fluffy, gentle and never hurt a fly.

    So here's to him

OK, introductions i have 2 canine buddies. King, who is an american mastiff is almost 3 years old & the sneakiest 190lb dog-ninja in the world. He loves to creep up behind you when you talking on the phone or working on the computer & give one of his deep woofs to watch you jump about 2' out of your pants. The other one...Scout.......poor dog, he means well..realy he does. He is a friendly, lovable, hyper 2 year old german shepard but dumb as a brick. Just yesterday he spent 30 minutes standing in the back yard barking at a treelimb that had broken off one of the trees & fallen into the yard. He wouldn't stop until i went out & dragged the limb out of the backyard!
Now if i could just get them to quit being terrified of the wife's danged cat!(well actually, i'm kinda scared of that freaky siamese demon)

Great introductions, martaug. :D King and Scout sound lovely.

Btw, my aunt's terrier, Kiko, used to turn turtles upside down and use them as sledges to slide down leafy side hills. He would actually drag them back to the top to have another go. I still don't know if that pup was a genius, or plain mad. :shake:

Well, i'm contemplating murdering one of my dogs. I get home thursday night to discover no cable & no internet. I thought it was just an interruption of some kind so i called the cable company & they said they would send a technician out the next day. Go out friday morning to play with the mutts & discover that scout has dug up the cable line to the house & apparently either ate or buried somewhere about 15' of the fiber-optic cable!
Had to call the cable company back & ask them to send a repair crew, which didn't get the line fixed until sunday night about 6:30pm. Since my dog dug up & damaged the cable, i will have to pay for the repair. Oh well, dogs are like kids, they are gonna cost you you one way or the other.

haha, oh no! Was the repair expensive?

I have a puppy, and the damn thing jumped over the gate to the computer room and ate my speaker cable for the computer. It was cut in half! My friend was able to repair for me.

And this week, he ate the cable for my gamepad! grrr!

Hi all. I'm new to this forum but a life long dog owner. Have raised, bred and showed Minature Schnauzers, tough to train them not to bark a any strange sound. We've had several West Highland White terriers. Presently have 2 Wirehaired Fox Terriers. Our oldest one is 15 years old and was getting stogey
and stubborn. We started looking for a breeder so that when the time came we would get new puppy. Wire haired Fox Terriers are rare in this area and didn't want to acquire one that we couldn't see in person. Luckily we found a breeder about 100 miles away and contacted her. She was going to deliver a 6 week old puppy about forty miles from us and had to go about 7 miles from us on the interstate. She had one pup left from the litter and was available. We met at the
Pets Mart parking lot just to look YOU KNOW. Well naturally we left with a new pup. Before we got home, 7 miles, the new name was Snickers. Our old dog immediately took to Snickers. The result is now we have two new puppies.
