[IMG] WAIT! I am sure many people out there would say "HELL YES" at the very sight of this topic. First why do (almost) of the SP-er has loved the BG saga? A realy good story, depth dialogue, great NPC, a FR game, true D&D conversion, a squale of XP (level 1 to 40), Romance ect, ect. First the Children of Bhaal saga is OVERS, a Children of the Children of Bhaal saga? I do not think so. So When people said they Want BG3 I think they just want a CRPG That has a Very good story just as good as BG one, depth dialogue ala BG, great NPC again As good as BG one, a true D&D conversion ala BG, Romance ect, ect. Why BG3? I think mainly because the least two CRPG ( NWN IWD II) weren't as great as the BG saga, so the SP-er would want to view something new, but with all the thing we've love about the BG saga.

That's was just my Point of view...sorry I couldn't help it

[IMG] I think they should do another game just like BG2 but with another storyline - same ruleset and choice and everything. Perhaps more NPCs and perhaps some from the BG adventures. Something that happens afterwards perhaps.

Perhaps at the beginning of the game somebody tells you the story of the Bhallspawn known as <Charname> and asks if you know the tale. Perhaps you could say about who they romnced, whether they became gods or not and perhaps continue the game.

Perhaps if you had BG/2 installed then they used characters from that in the story?

The whole Baldur's Gate series actually doesn't fit in the Forgotten Realms time-line. After making the series, they decided that it never happened. For the story line to remain in tact, it would be impossible, if millions of different 'bhaal spawn' became the new lord of murder, so they just forgot it all and let Cyric (IIRC) have Bhaal's portfolio. So, because of this, they'll probably never make anything that even referes to the BG-series, and because of the whole 3ed. D&D system that they currently have, I also doubt that they would make a game with the same rules as BG, but with a different story line.

When I first heard that they would only make an expansion to end the saga I was kinda disappointed. I believed that they could have made it bigger but now I realized that Baldur's Gate 3 would have been too much.

Err.. I would have written more but it seems that I'm too tired to think of something. Sorry.

I never really wanted a BG3 myself. I just want another really good RPG to play. And I'm hoping that Lion Heart should be that.

IMHO, there was enough closure at the end of ToB. A third one is not necessary.

What I would like to see is a Planescape CRPG in 3rd Edition. Only problem being Planescape was never fully converted into 3rd Edition. :(

I'm hoping for exactly the same... although i would REALLY like another FR game, but more of the epic style of BG than IWD. But for now, i'm looking forward to Lionheart and Star Wars:Kotor :D

I'd like to see a BG3 provided that they moved back to the style of the first one in terms of story, sub plots and freedom while keeping the best bits of BG2 (more believeable character interaction) and the best bits of NWN (online play, editor and interface) (not sure which graphical style I'd prefer). I felt the trend from BG onwards has been to slowly dumb things down.

As for story, it would be possible to revisit the Bhaal sporn character and even import the one(s) you finished the previous games with. OK it might involve a convulted plot idea similar to the start of BG2 - you've been attacked/kidnapped/cursed/involved in an accident with/by powers unknown which has taken away your god-based powers and reduced to a level one 3rd edition character. I think most people could live with that, we all accepted starting BG2 imprisoned.

The other option is one that has been muted before, why not base games on the party members - Minsc the early years, Jaheira's Trials of the Harpers, Aerie Winges some more, etc, etc You could even have basically the same game but be allowed to choose which former party member you play as. The dialogue and a few quests could be changed to refelct this just as there were slight changes dependent on race, class, etc in the originals.

Of course it's not going to happen. I don't know how much the Bioware, Black Isle split affects the brand ownership but the chances are that anything we do see will just be a cash in on the name like the Playstation version was. Ah well, we can all dream.

Baldur's gate serie (or diology, whatever) has been put to conclusion, so I would hate to see some forced sequel. Example from the movie side: Alien 4. Third part already put an end to the trigology, but still they had to make "some sort" of an sequel -why to waste good brand when you could pump the last money out of it? The result was bad, and I believe that in BG's case it, too, would be bad. Better to make a new one, like Greyhawk ;)

If something had to be done to BG, I would like to see a remake of it. BG1/2 + exp in one package, with everything cleaned up, expanded and updated (in case of BG1 and ToB, it would prob. require a lot of altering).

That's exactly what I meant, some of you have said some Fancy Ways to have more of our Beloved BG saga, but What ye people realy want is another great CRPG. I think the upcomming Greyhawk Temple of the elemental evil and Lionheart may Fill our Bg-less heart...!

I do not want another BG. A cash in on the name is just pathetic, and it probably wouldn't even use the infinity engine. I'm interested in seeing new games like BG. In fact, I'm interested in fixing my computer so I can run BG...

Of course it would be nice if they made it, but personally I'd rather play something Bhaal-less if you catch my drift, but with an equally as interesting or better more interesting story.

Still, a nice thing to see some further adventures of level 50 charname and his priestly elven companion

All I want is a game that keeps the BG interface and allows you to pick NP characters you can interact with easily. I could live without romance. I'd like more role playing opportunities, but fewer stupid riddles and games.

I personally loved the riddles and games! They were great! It's always good to have riddles in a game. Just not to many like in Betrail at Krondor (sp?). But riddles in RPGs are a must (IMO).

Well if their was a BG3, their would be one of two thing: A gameplay like Black and White, if you became a god. Or a game with horrendously powerful creatures, because, when one finishes Throne of Bhaal, you should be incredibly high leveled.

Urgh, yuck. Insanly high powered characters. How terrible. Why can't we just have noce low level games, where the character doesn't fly up levels in hours (like in IWD2).
Riddles are nice, so long as they're not overdone or really stupid and serve no practical purpose.

If they make a new game they should really use the Infinity engine, it rocks!

Any forced sequal to an already ended saga will suck big time...

    Think of the Alien movies.

Same goes with a follow-up to Planescape, be happy with how it ended, since it won't get better.
