Do I need to spend points on Wisdom as a Cleric?

    [IMG] Hello,

I started with the paladin Corran, who has 14 wisdom from the start. I'm planning to get 16 levels as a cleric and share the remaining 16 levels between rogue and paladin.

I got +1 wisdom from a barrel, so I have 15 wisdom at the moment. I spent 3 attribute-points from level up on strength so far. There are 8 Cleric spell levels, I guess. So I'd need at least a wisdom of 18, to receive the full spell range of the cleric.

My question is, are there enough barrels, wells, poitions..., to enhance the wisdom to 18 without spending level-up points on it? I would like to spend them on strength.

    Thank you abd bye. :)

I don't remember how many wisdom-enhancing items there are in the game, sorry. That said, widsom for clerics also gives you more spell slots per level, as well as increasing the DC of offensive spell, so it's a good idea to go above 18 anyway.

Is it possible to gain spell levels by items, or does only the base wisdom(10 + spell level) count for spell levels?

Spell level and DC are not the same thing. Spell level (as in "1d6 damage per level") is the same as your level in that particular class. DC is not based on spell level or character level; it's a base value (which depends on the spell itself) plus your wisdom modifier (for clerics). So for example if you have a level 10 mage with 14 INT casting fireball, he will do 10d6 damage but the DC will be 15 (10 + base value for fireball 3 + INT modifier 2).

That said, no item can increase your spell level (because not items increase character or class level in the game). I don't remember if there are any stat-increasing items to boost your DC.

I ment if it is possible to reach higher spell levels by the use of items. E.g. may my Paladin with wisdom 16 wear a +2 wisdom necklace to use level 8 spells? It was possible in any d&d game, i guess Neverwinter Nights 2, but I am not sure.

Ah ok I see what you mean. I don't remember how PoR handled this, my assumption is that your actual wisdom score (including all additions) would count.
