Okay, I've finished IWD II and I was thinking of trying to design my own expansion mod and was wondering just how difficult it would be to go about doing it.

Obviously it's not impossible because there have been countless mods for games like BG I and II but is it the sort of thing that you could pick up in a matter of days or does it require months of poring over your computer screen to get a halfway decent mod finished?

[IMG] It's harder than it looks!

I was thinking perhaps getting a few people on e-mail and perhaps making a mod for IWD, a big one!

[IMG] A few days? You're joking right?
It's nothing, (i mean Nothing) like doing Mod's in NWN and the like; since most Conversations and Variables/Constants have to be set via Notepad texts, which is incredibly confusing. (trust me, i've tried).

    So months, yes.
Maybe longer since you don't seem to be experienced at programming or such.

If it was a matter of days to make a good expansion, I think we'd be drowning in them by now. :)

I never suggested it was possible to get a mod done in a few days, I was just wondering how long it took to learn *how* to make a mod. You could go on a writing course and learn the basics of writing a bestseller in a week and then spend years actually writing your book.

[IMG] Start with basic dialogues and stuff... learn variables and stuff... move onto multiple dalogues and making creatures and stuff... learn more stuff then you can move onto to learning better stuff so you can put stuff together in a mod then you can make the stuff better by using more stuff and then you can move onto the next level of stuff...

    tired okay?
