Sarevok is better in a straight fight than Korgan because he's like the energizer bunny -- he just keeps going, while Berserker rage only lasts a little while. Also, IMHO, Sarevok is just cooler than Korgan. The occasional Deathbringer assault is just too cool to pass up.

If I want raging abilities, I'll play a Barbarian -- his rage is MUCH better!

It doesn't protect from imprisonment and the like imo... but the strength bonus is quite handy, as are the others.
Anyway, if you want no magic, there are everyone's favourite anti-magic scrolls from Ribald.

Uh... can barbarians read, btw? :D

I seem to remember that the way it used to be when I played pen and paper, was that if you had really low Intelligence (like 3) you could learn to read but you could only learn one language.

Sarevok's Deathbringer Assault is probably the most awesome thing in the game, IMO. There is no control over when it happens, but when it does, someone's going down in a shower of chunks. It cements Sarevok as a mean SOB who you really wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of.

@ Scythesong: You're right - I think it's blocked by Stoneskin and Iron Skins, but even a physical damage reduction ability will drop it by the normal percentage. I remember him hitting an Adamantine Golem with one for... 20 damage! Not quite as impressive as usual, but handy nonetheless.

I must be doing something seriously wrong because i have NEVER seen Sarevok have a deathbringer assault against anyone.

.....Would the bunny just be going medieval on the competition or would it be in the full Sarevok armor? :)

    Mmmmm...bunnies.
I'm just glad Sarevok didn't have that ability in BG1. He would have been impossible!

Sorry for having to retrieve such old topic, but does deathbringer assault bypass " absolute immunity" or "protection from magical weapon" spell if your weapon is +4?

And if I dual-class Sarevok to a mage, and cast timestop with him, will the Deathbringer Assault have a chance to occur when fighting foes?
    Thanks in advance!

1- No, it doesn't bypass "Absolute Immunity".

2- As for bosses' immunity to Deathbringer Assault, the answer is easy:

All of the bosses in TOB have worn a sort of undroppable belt which makes them immune to this particular ability.

3- When Deathbringer assault is applied the window shakes, but it doesn't mean that it was a critical hit.

4- The damage type is always slashing. (Hence, no damage to clay golems)

5- Yes, it can occur during time stop as well.
