Has anyone seen the brilliant 1981 Fantasy film Time Bandits directed by Terry Gillingam (former Monty Python)? Any way in this film as soon as I saw the villian (actually called "evil") I immediately recognised the voice, and as the film went on started to think that not only is must the actor be the VO talent for BG2 but also Bioware based Irenicus totally on this character. Everything, down to the immense magic ability, ruthless pursuit of power and that thing he wears on his head is the same! I paused the credits to find the actor's name: David Warner - then I qucikly went to SoA's credits: David Warner!! I'm surprised that they haven't been done for copyright infringement because I assure you - Evil in Time Bandits IS Irenicus.

Great flick - now that I think about it, yeah, Warner's Irenicus is a lot like his character in Time Bandits.

Not to mention a heck of a lot of other villain rolls that he has played over the years. He has done a lot of voice work and naturally tends to usually get the roll of the would be world conqueror.

I was discussing this with a friend and we looked him up on imdb.com and he has well over a hundred listed appearances. However, the one that really stuck out in my mind was being the narrator for a Winnie the Pooh film. :hmm:

Ever since I relaized Warner is the voice for R'as Al Ghul in the old Batman: TAS, I keep expecting him to call me 'detective.'

Personally, I had an experience where everyone was wondering why I was laughing so hard at a line he said as a mad scientist in a spider-man cartoon about how he would have to do more experiments.

    Nope -- you're ALL wrong!

David Warner, who was Jack the Ripper in "Time after Time," is Irenicus!

    :p
