Danica Patrick in NASCAR

    I understand from an earlier thread that there aren't many NASCAR fans at sorcerers.net. I was just wondering if anybody was watching her pitiful attempt at stockcar racing. I'm not a fan of her's but also, I don't blame her poor results on her. Apparently, it's not easy to go from Indycar racing to NASCAR. It's been proven with both Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr. They were top stars in Indycar when they made the jump to NASCAR and they struggled. No offense to Danica Patrick, but she's a mediocre driver in Indycar so it's expected she'd struggle in NASCAR. The only driver I can remember that made the jump from Indycar to NASCAR and was successful at it is Tony Stewart; but he can drive the wheels off of anything.

    Yep, Danica is no champion but will probably make more money(not from racing, but from endorsements) than many drivers with more talent since she is a decent looking chic. She is more marketable. But I hate racing either way. Such a bore!

    I don't know much about her but I do remember some Formula 1 bosses talking about recruiting her to the sport. She'd create much extra publicity that's for sure but I not much else I think.

    Eh, I kinda enjoy F-1, and I doubt Nascar is all that different. There are much more boring sports imo. At least there's always something happening and you don't get 2-minutes breaks for everything.

    Agree. Before I can take her seriously as a driver and not as a sex symbol (which is all she presently is), she has to become competitive. Eventually, a win would be nice, but I'd take a couple of top 10 finishes....

    Half an hour? What type of NASCAR are you watching? Some of those races are 500 miles. It's several hours at a time...

    To paraphrase George Carlin: A bunch of rednecks driving around in circles is not a sport.

    Aldeth: Danica has a lot of top ten finishes, in fact her rookie years she finished 12th overall (which won her rookie of the year in 2005)) and has not finished out of the top ten in the overall point total since. She's certainly of the same calibre as the driver who received rookie of the year in 2006 -- Marco Andretti. I'd say she's a competitive driver -- I also think her 'sex symbol' aspect really detracts from anyone viewing her as a professional driver.

    She has not done as well in NASCAR, though. There is a lot more physical contact in NASCAR and would not be an easy adjustment.

    I was specifically talking about her performance in NASCAR, as per the title of the topic. Yes, I realize that there is a difference in the types of racing, and that some transition time is to be expected. I just thought that she would have been more competitive. I know she didn't have any top 10 finishes since coming to NASCAR, and there weren't too many top 20 finishes either.

    I agree with Barmy. Also, I don't call driving around in circles a sport.

    As for her sex with her; well I wouldn't say no if she offerred.
