my character has a base thaco of 3 and with my daystar and a axe +3 +1 cold and +1 acid damage, it does more damage than any two daggers together. And I'm playing a half-orc Barbarian, and I just love to see him hack and smash evil with two very big weapons...
I think it will look sissy if I would use two really small daggers.

You´re an unimaginative hack´n´slash! There´s a resason why I spent some prof slots on katanas

 

So does anyone know the reason for the lower THACO/ ETWO using daggers (+4) despite the just **** prof compared to the higher THACO/ ETWO unsing a katana (+2) with ***** prof ?

 

Hmpf, looking for my char´s stats again I can´t any longer find daggers "the exceptional THACO bonusses" I spoke of
I clearly remember my THACO as -3 or -5 and now it´s just -1, that correlates with my katana +2´s THACO of 1 Maybe a potion effect?
So the dagger´s weapon class THCO-benefit I guessed doesn´t exist.

However, what I´d like to know how and if is how in general high dexterity, high strength and weapon initiative effectively influence THACO.

 

I went right through as a fighter/thief and never used backstab - because I was a dwarven locksmith who used hammers and crossbows

 

rag,

str gives bonuses to hit and damage for meelee. dex gives to hit bonuses for ranged weapons.

i dont believe initiaive has any effect on thaco at all.

so, your thaco with a dagger is only affected by: level, str, proficiency, and magical properties of the weapon itself. thats not including any other special abilities, equip, or effects, of course.

you can find the actual numbers in the str and dex tables.
