Was Daggerfall this buggy? Hubby is playing via an emulator and weird things are happening - he can only use the numbers when notating the map and the game crashes when he's inside the mage's guild.

Will patches help when playing this way? And did Bethesda bother to make patches?

It has been a long time since I played Daggerfall but I don't remember it being particularly buggy. There are patches available for it - I think this is the last one that was issued.

Daggerfall was VERY buggy. I loved the game and played it for over two years, until about the time that M&M 6 arrived. I played it on three different computer systems: 486 DX2 66, Pentium I 200, and a PII 350. It crashed and locked-up constantly on all of them. Nevertheless, it was a fun game, but dated now. Just save a lot.

daggerfall itself was very buggy, and is painful to play with dosbox
my suggestion for a small fix would be to install win98 or 'better' on a partition and play daggerfall from it

Currently, he's playing in windowed mode and saving every 5 seconds.
