Cypress AT2LP RC42?

    I bought an external USB enclosure about a year ago, and have had a hard drive working fine in it since then. Yesterday I plugged it in, and rather than getting the hard drive as usual Windows detected it as "new hardware", a "Cypress AT2LP RC42", but cannot install a driver for it. I researched this a bit and found several people suggesting a problem with either the Windows installation or the hard drive itself. I plugged the drive as internal and it works well. I tried the enclosure on a friend's computer, and it doesn't work. Has anyone else had this happen? I think that Cypress manufacture the USB bridge in the enclosure - does this mean the enclosure's busted?
