[IMG] There's a time and place for everything, but this isn't it.

Hundreds of people packed the church for Asa's funeral. The couple surprised attendees by getting married, which the parents say their son had been asking them to do.

I don't see it that way. This was something their son had long requested, and I think they did it as a testament to him, a final gift to their departed son. The parents were with Asa when he died, too, so for all we know, marrying at his funeral may have been his final request. Some may find it distasteful, but I find it heartening that this couple was able to make something beautiful out of such a tragic death. Asa would have approved.

Yeah, I have to agree with Drew on this one. I think it's a touching farewell gesture to their departed son. The article said it was the son's wish that they married. If they still hadn't, it may have been for personal reasons (ex. not believing in the marriage institution), so the act may have been symbolic in nature.

And as Drew said, they may have been trying to bring happiness in such a terrible moment to live.

Think I've got to agree as well. If Asa had been so keen on wanting them to marry then it was their final gift to him really

It would certainly have been tacky if they had used Asa as the ring bearer -- and a bit awkward ('excuse me while I just reach in here and get the ring...'). But I don't see anything wrong with what they did.

The concept is really, really odd, but it's not horrible. Assuming that the boy really had been asking his parents to do it, no problem.
