Can anyone give a site about information on some college courses? I don't need information on the college, but the course itself, preferably computer related. Im having a hard time looking for a site that could explain to me what's in computer engineering. All they give me is info on their college.

    Thanks a lot! ;)

Probably not going to help to look on a college site. Try doing searches for career builder sites. Some of them will give you a good description of your field possibilities.

If this is to help you determine what you want to study in college, you might want to consider taking some sort of aptitude test. There are lots of good companies out there, some of which are quite sophisticated.

In computer engineering in contrast to electrical engineering, you will get more digital than analog design classes as well as more software engineering classes. But of course many of the choices are up to you, especially in the later years of your education.

How about going to your college's web site and look up the cirriculum for your major? Once you've got that, cross reference it with the course descriptions, likely found at the same site or you'll have to order them once you get accepted.

I can't speak for the institution(s) you are looking at, but I can tell you the difference between IT and Computer Engineering here in Australia.

In Computer [Systems] Engineering, you complete a common engineering first year, then specialise after that. You learn about electronics, circuit / chip design, and low-level programming (like assembler). You will also learn to program in more commonly used languages (perhaps java and / or c).

In IT, you learn to program, design, and manage IT projects. You may or may not learn much about hardware, but you almost certainly won't build any. Seldom does it involve much, if any, electronics theory.

Not sure if it's like that where you are, but that's what it's like here.
