I put on the cleric remix mod some time ago to see how it actually works out. The idea, as far as I understood, was to make the cleric closer to the pen&paper equivalent - with spell selection pertaining to the deity. Then I decided to take up Anomen - once he becomes a specialist Priest of Helm he gets some very useful skills for a melee priest - immunity to normal weapons, mantle... But just to see how the sphere thing works out, I started a TOB game with a Helmite. Surprise, surprise. A few things I clearly did not expect, here they are in order of hilariousness:
    1: 2 (yep, 2) level 4 spells. No kidding!
2: No healing spells past level 3. O-kay...
3: No raise dead OR resurrection. Heck, even Viconia gets that!

If I were playing another character, I'd say he's heading for a berserker-cleric, but as a LN monk I think I'll just say hi to a certain shapeshifter friend o'mine.

P.S.: (who happens to be quite something with the improved shapeshifter component of the EoU mod...)

Anomen never becomes a Watcher of Helm--dual-classed characters can not take a kit in their second class.

Watchers really get screwed at level 4, we know. The new spells we're adding are trying to address the fact that some spehere combinations get socked at certain levels. Watchers at level 4 are atrocious, and also the worst example we've found so far.

Helm only grants minor access to healing and none to necromancy, hence no healing after level 3 and no raise/resurrection. And you'll find that Viconia, if kitted as a Nightcloak, also only gets minor sphere healing access, though Shar is down with necromantic spells and grants full sphere access.

If you want a cleric that heals and resurrects, find a deity who grants major access to healing and ressurrection--Ilmater, Lathander, and Selune will all work nicely.

If you're after a more offensive Cleric (though one with little healing ability), the Authlim of Xvim is a favourite of mine. :)

Incidentally, I think spell spheres for Priest spells should probably be in the manual. The mod ReadMe and ingame kit descriptions tell you what spheres each kit can access, so you can figure out what you'll be able to cast.

Hm, I suppose they are in the manual, but with 20 or so spheres I didn't bother checking until now. Anyway, I wanted this mod because it made sense, but apparently Ano won't make my party this time... Oh well, I suppose I'll live with it.
As for the authlim, the very description had me in stitches: sorry guys, this dude/tte won't heal party members. Why? 'Cause if they need it, they're WIMPS, and don't deserve it! Mwahahahahaa!
    Your perfect D&D Catch-22

Speaking about mods, the NPC kit one is the one that can make Anomen Fighter/Watcher if he passes the test or Berserker/Cleric if he fails it. Mind you, it can also make Nalia Adventurer/Invoker, which gives her a decent number of spells per level. I'm not sure if it works on imoen, though.

    Yeh, I like Xvim. :)

I think NPC Kit does allow Imoen to become an Adventurer/Specialist Mage, though I am not sure that she qualifies for some of the specialisations on stat grounds.

I couldn't make her an adventurer/conjurer, although she has the Con needed.

There's probably some other reason that Idobek didn't allow that option then... I'll see if I can figure it out.

By the way, just to try, I made Anomen a fighter/watchknight, and surprisingly his spell repertoire was significantly larger than what the main character could do. I suppose this makes him less of a loss, anyway... with Jaheira and Cernd I'm starting to miss a few spells - my favourite protection from evil/gate among them. Not having restoration is also a bugger, since you have to carry scrolls. Oh well, at least I'll get to see how the game goes without a cleric.
