[IMG] Hiya. Was Just wondering if there is any kind of editing tool available to change a character's weapon proficiency choices. I am picking up on a game I started a while back ( Neutral Evil Fighter/Mage bout halfway through bgII)and am wondering why I did not put some points into Quarterstaff. I remember intending to switch between staff of magi and dual longswords but for some reason i took longbow slots  . None of the editors i looked for initially alowed for changing wpn proficiencies. I tried reducing my exp and then giving it back so i could change the proficiencies without changing my game, but the editor had no effect.
    (1) I was wondring if any vets here know of editors available for the mac that can make wpn proficiency changes.
    (2) Also if there might be some way of importing my character back into a single player game.
    (3) And if so would this reset relationships /w characters in my party.
Thanks in advance for any help or info

Thanks 4 the tip Thunder, but SK did not work. Looks like would be a great program but it definately does not work with my mac.

I've tried to edit it with the MacBGeditorX but it was ineffectual in changing level/exp. I had used this program to change the avatar of my character from a fighter to a mage. This caused no problems but left all of my files as documents and not BGII data files. I am trying to open them in the QNDBG# 1.1.1 (OS X version) editor but all Baldur.Gam files are grayed out. Even when i change the default application of these files i cannot open them. I'll play around with the second mac editor a little more and see if i can come up with some more specific questions.

    any info is greatly appreciated
O and P.S. i found both of the editors at http://ire.mainecoon.net/main/links.html if any 1 has experience with their tools.

I'd advise you not to waste proficiencies on staves in the first place. You're going to use the staff of the magi to turn invisible when you're casting right?

As you're hardly ever going to hit anyone with it, you're better off with the proficiency in long-bows.

Correct me if I'm mistaken and you were going to use it as an actual weapon.

Staff of the magi strikes as a +5 wpn, dispels on hit, along with a host of other defensive capabilities. Damage doesnt compare to dual swords, so I wouldnt use it all the time, but for many situations it is useful (only +5 wpn in my group as i have no pally).

Save the character file, Use SK on a PC, import it back. You could possibly do the same with your save game.
