My keyboard broke last evening (the "a", "d", and shift keys stopped working), so I've been unable to post to the Boards 'til I could find a substitute. Imagine my surprise when I started reading some election-related threads!

Just wanted to remind everyone that we're here because we're gamers. And not just any type of gamers, but CRPGers. Politics is a sideshow. What Bush does in the next four years is less important to us, as SPers, than the quality of BG3, NWN2, Oblivion, and whatever other RPGs come out between now and 2008.

99% of SP disagrees with me on any and every issue. I don't care. I'm not here for the politics, I'm here for the games and the gamers. If I can discuss the occasional issue with you all, as friends, great; and if not, that's OK too.

All I'm saying is, let's not waste time on the bitter recriminations and vapid vitriol. Life's too short and BG2's too long.

Well of course we are Grey, but you know very well that venturing into the Alley means setting the RPG's aside for the time being.

That being said, I felt that (with a few notable exceptions) most of the posting on this election was more disappointment than vitriol.

Heck, you know that I would have preferred a Kerry victory, but I don't like either of them and don't think either is particularly qualified. Let me know when you turn 35 -- maybe you're gullible enough to go for it. I know you'd do a better job than Bush. Plus, you've got style, can speak the language and are not morbidly afraid of the French. :square:

Good point, Grey. I'm as guilty as anyone on that, but as dmc has said, stepping into the Alley means talking about personal opinions and contentious stuff, which means it's sometimes hard to step back from the divide. Still, I think I'm out of vitriol (and I think I was overstuffed with it anyway, since the Australian election a month back).

Now let's get back to the important stuff, shall we? Who's the bigger tyrant - Firkraag or Abazigal?

Good point Grey, i have been given that a lot of thought lately as well. I wonder what went on in the minds of some people. Did they wake up one morning and decided to join a CRPG related messageboard, so that they can spill their guts on every political issue in this world ? :D

[IMG] Bah! Trust a dirty, stinkin' conservative scumbag like you (yeah, I'm talkin' to you, Grey!) to...to...um...ahh..well, to be reasonable. :p

Aaanyhoo, glad to see you've got a working keyboard again. I, for one, vow to look for a non-Iraq, non-Bush subject that I can start a new Alley thread on within the next week. Maybe one on homosexuality! :shake:
