Brynn Shander is besieged by a vast army of goblinoids lead by a intelligent and powerful Ogre called Orgrax. Brynn Shander needs sell swords of all kinds to repel the assault. Tosign up go to Commander Furian ( played by me but I'll also be a character ).

Cameron entered the barracks looking for the sign up post. His broad chest and his large spear parted the crowd. Finally he reached the sheet, he marked his name. The post said to meet in the court yard for breifing, tomorrow at dawn. Cameron went back to his inn and sharpened his sword.

Daren Baggins entered the city, greeting the guards warmly, and guiding his miniature pony through the crowd, after dodging incoming arrows in front of the town from the vast army of goblinoids. The guards at the gate almost didn't let him in, because of his size. He had heard that they were after sell-swords and had jumped at the thought. He had been left alone in his Hobbit-Hole when his brother, Garen, left on an adventure with a dwarf by the name of Pikel Bouldershoulder, whom Daren had called 'Pikoo' all of his life. Garen was 6 years older than Daren and was a master thief. Daren could fight a bit and wanted a chance to actually fight something. He was told to find Commander Furian and sign up. He had to control himself after walking by an open window with a fresh pie cooling off in it. Daren had always stole things in his village. He also walked past a fruit stand and started to drool. "Must not eat one.. Must not eat one.. well, this Commander can wait.." he thought to himself, as he bought a melon and cut it with a small knife. He sat down and fed some to himself and his mini pony, Georgia. After he was done, he walked on and saw the sign up sheet on the wall of the barracks. He looked up at the sign that said 'SIGN UPS HERE' and walked up to it. There was a small line, but it diminished quickly. Expecting it to talk, because his brother had told him about magic things that could, he said, " Hello, my good sir! I am Daren Baggins, apprentice to the great thief, Garen Baggins, and student under the master fighter.. uh Minsc. I don't know what his last name is. I have come to offer my services to this humble town." After noticing that it didn't talk and the quill beside it, he signed his name lightly, making sure not to hurt the thing, just in case it was magical, but wasnt talking.

Furian looked down to the Market place and was glad to see the line at the sign up post, most had seen too many summers or too few but will do. He thought some looked a bit better. He thought he saw a child sign up but didn't get too good look. Pleased Furian went inside, he had to get things in order for tomorrow.

Daren was pulling on people's coats, with no responses from any of them. So he hopped up on Georgia and tried to look around but was still too short.

Berggrabber Schaufelhand led his crew into the courtyard of the village. Two dwarves and two gnomes carried poles laden with gear between them, and a huge man carried a pole laden at each ends across his massive shoulders. A dwarf and a gnome without baggage each carried an axe and a hammer in their hands. Berg looked around, then lead his crew over into the shade by a wall.

“Crew, drop loads.” He barked. They put down their poles. “Drink!” They all took out waterskins and drank. “Clean up!” They put their waterskins away. “Rest! Hunl and Kette, guard!” A dwarf and a gnome stood on either end of the group, and looked a little more alert than they had before. The rest of the group sat down and closed their eyes.

Berg looked around and saw the sign up sheet in the square. He went up to it and looked at it, but didn't sign it. He looked around some more and saw a building that looked like it would be a headquarters. He walked over to the building and went in without knocking. A surprised man looked up.

“Are you the commander?” Berg asked. The man nodded. “I am Berggrabber Schaufelhand, combat engineer extraordinaire. I've come to offer you my services, and the services of my crew of seven hard-rock miners. I have experience in all manner and sorts of siege engines, defense structures, building and operating catapults, ballistas, screws. Siege towers, mining and counter mining, making and using Dwarf-fire and blasting powder, and of course we are all capable close combat fighters as well.”

“These are my terms: my seven miners each get double pay, as specialists, and I get quadruple pay, as their master. You use us for our specialty, mining and siege engines, not as grunt fighters, except for in an extremity, such as a wall breach or infiltration. And most importantly, no elves are allowed in the barracks where we bunk. Do we have a deal?”

Having heard that Brynne Shander was seeking sell-swords Bjorn travelled there. Nearing the town he found it was surrounded by a hoard of Goblins.

“Now this is a problem. I may be a good fighter but I can’t take on an army this big. Spells…nope. Don’t know any that would get me through that batch.”

He sits down and rummages around in his pack for a drink. “Hey, that scroll case I librated from that nasty mage. Haven’t taken a good look at what’s in it.”

He pulls out the case and looks through it. “Hum, nope, no good. Aha, an invisibility spell. Looks good. Will last about 8 hrs. A bit over kill, but what else can I do?”

He reads the spell and vanishes. Without further ado he makes his way through the goblin forces and to the town gates and follows a small group through into Brynne Shander.

Wandering around he comes to the Market Square. There are many people here mostly just milling around. Being careful not to jostle anyone, he comes across the sign-up sheet. When there is a lull, he quickly signs the sheet and then moves off to look around some more.

Daren looked at the size of the dwarves and thought, "Maybe those dwarves will tell me more.." He walked over to them and asked "Uh...Can you guys tell me what to do?"

The dwarf guarding the rest of the group of miners looked with a vacant expression at the halfling who had spoken to them. "Don't touch our stuff," he said in a monotone. "Go away."

Furian agreed to the Dwarves agreement, but on one condition triple pay. On the next day at dawn Furian went outside on his balconey. Underneath him were his troops.

" Soldiers " he boomed " You are here to defend the people of Brynne Shander and all of Icewind Dale. For if we are defeated, these monsters will move on." he looked down on his 1000 - 1500 troops " We are the sentienls who guard the people against the hoard of goblins, orcs and trolls. We fall, we all fall. You must know if one of you run, you'll cause the death of your friend. If you cherish the man beside you will fight. " Furian waited for his finaly " We will not go quietly into the night, we will not die without a fight. We are men who hold the torches against the dark and cold of this world. We are the Wolves of BRYNNE SHANDER!"

The roars were louder then a dragons death cry. The goblinoids now knew the Wolves have come for them.

Cameron's boom deaffened the men beside him. He could feel adrenalin pumping in his veins. He were to die he would take half the army down with him. He felt indistructable. It was a good feeling but didn't last long when he mounted the walls.

Tooka stumbled through the crowded soldiers as they moved away. He had decided to stay in the city while any attack went through with. He knew, not to be vain though, that his strength would be needed at the end. And, he also guessed, that the thousand or so warriors would not be enough the defeat the sieging goblinoids. They had trolls, orcs, mages. Maybe even bugbears and the like. No, Tooka would wait until he was needed. No point in wasting his energy in what could be done by others.

As he walked across the square, he spotted the small halfing tugging at people’s cloaks and the like, being rejected by a group of dwarves. This small man was obviously new, and though he had a brief idea of what might happen, Tooka approached.

“Greetings, my small friend. I am Tooka, soldier and guard of Brynne Shander. Please, do not fear me. I would be glad to help you, small one. What’s your name and where do you head?”

Jeibi had been wandering for days looking for a town to sing in and maybe make a few gold. He hadn't came across a town yet and when he saw a town on the horizon he didn't think twice before running toward it. When he got to the gates he was quickly dismissed to a line. He asked a person what this line was for. The huge man exclaimed that this line was for sell-swords. The man then took a good look at him and started laughing. Jeibi asked what was funny. The big man said that it was hillarious that a bard wanted to be a sell-sword. Just to proove him wrong, even though he didn't know what a sell-sword was, Jeibi said that he'd be the best sell-sword that the man had ever seen. When he got to the sign up sheet he blindly signed up without reading a word. He then left in search for an inn he could sing in for some money.

Daren looked up at the man, and smiled," Finally someone who will talk to me! I am Daren and I am here to offer my services," he said, puffing out his chest. "Who are you?"

"My name be Tooka, little Daren. I hope your services will help change the tide of this war. But, before I can help you, I must ask: What can you actually offer? Tell me that, and I'll point you int eh right direction." Tooka said cheerfully, happy the small halflng had not fled at the sight of the half-orc.

Berg got his crew situated in a barracks that had no elves. He got them fed and in bed, then he took a notebook and quill, and went on a tour of the town's walls and defenses, noting their strengths and weaknesses, what could be improved, and what building materials existed in the non-military buildings of the town that could be scavanged.

After a thourough examination of the situation, he found the commander and made his report.

The invisibility spell having worn off, Bjorn explored the town. He went up on the walls and saw how large the invading force was. He saw a dwarf checking the walls and making sure his ears were covered he walked over to him.

"Hi, I'm Bjorn, you look like you are inspecting the walls. With that big of an army they will be of primary importance."

    He just stops and waits.

Berg made a few marks in his notebook. He looked up at the person who had spoken to him. Young, but not too young, good muscles on his arms, a little elflike face, but no ears, most impressive were the well worn scimitars he carried. In a pinch, he would make a good miner, but he'd probably be better as a ballista crew chief, he had eagle eyes.

"Good to meet you Bjorn. I'm Berggrabber Schaufelhand, master combat engineer for this campaign, call me Berg. Yes, I'm inspecting the walls. They could be better, but they could be worse. A lot will depend on if these goblins and orcs have anyone of intelligence leading them, and what they throw at us. If we can get them into a good field of fire, I have some surprises for them that will turn 'em into sausages."

Berg hacked and spit a big loogie on the ground. "You signed up yet?"

"I signed in yesterday but haven't been given anything to do. I'm strong, a good fighter and know a few a few spells, not much but they help."

Bjorn flexed his muscles a little and stretched.

"I like to be active. Need something to do or I get antsy. I get along with most folk unless they want a fight. I don't start fights but I've been known to finish them. Wouldn't be alive otherwise."

"That's good," Berg said. "Need people like that. I haven't got any specific orders yet, or authorization to commandeer materials and start constructing. Otherwise I'd be ripping civilian houses down already to buttress some of these weaker spots." Berg walked down to the next section of wall, tapping the stones with his pick, measuring the wall with an angle, and writing some more stuff down in his book.
