Just how many of those pairs of boots of speed are sitting around in SoA and ToB? If I remember correctly I had two pairs in my party, carrying over from SoA, and have picked up three from ToB.

Is that the lot, or is there another pair out there so I can speed up an entire 6 person party?

I think that is the lot, though I may be wrong... If there's more it is certainly only 1 or 2 more, but I don't recall ever having an entire party kitted out in them.

There are only 5 pairs in total. You can still speed up an entire party though, by using the Grandmaster's Armor. I think there's also a bow that speeds movement, and there's the Amulet of Cheetah Speed, but I'm not sure if those provide movement bonuses comparable to the boots, while I am sure that the Grandmaster's Armor does.

You can get 3 in SoA.

    1) Bounty Hunter in Planar Prison
    2)Spellhold Coin Machine
    3)Renal Bloodscalp (surprise, surprise)

    @Truper

Grandmaster's Armor? what's that? is that an unmodded game item?

Grandmaster's armor is a studded leather+6, if i recall right. You can loot it off of one of gromir's henchmen.

    ToB, Of course.

Ah, I missed out on the Renal Bloodscalp pair in SoA, did you pickpocket them from him?

("Stop, thief! he has taken the underpants with the gold tassels I was wearing, and the lint from my navel...")

I discarded, or rather sold, the grandmasters armour in ToB, as my thief is Jan. Being a Wiz, he cannot wear that kind of armour (I kitted him out in the improved Bladesinger chain, which he can wear).

In the unmodded game I used to let my cleric wear the grandmaster armour as he/she rarely saw combat anyway and it is damn annoying to have all but one character running around on speed.

Renal's boots can only be acquired by killing him. But that leads to Arkanis popping up and using the killsword on your party, which pretty much ends your game. There are a few ways to kill him though ;) There is also a mod that disables him but I'm not really sure which one... sorry.

The Magnificent Magic Store mod will give you enough boots of speed and other haste inducing items to have your whole party moving quickly. Plus, you can also get some specialty boots of speed if you combine them with other boots with the help of the item upgrade mod.

This is a rather old thread, but when I had the same question I couldn't find another, so I would like to give a full list in case somebody is interested.
You can get 3 in SoA.

    1) Bounty Hunter in Planar Prison
    2) Spellhold Token Machine (use 15)
    3) Renal Bloodscalp
    - either side with Bodhi
    - or force kill him (no loss of reputation)
However, when you attack somebody in the Shadow Guild building Arkanis Gath shows up that has infinite HP and a sword that kills on each hit. The only way to kill him is to shapechange into a mindflayer and hit him until his intelligence drains to zero and he dies. This is best done in chapter 6 when you come back from the underdark and are able to cast timestop and shapechange.

In ToB you get another 3

    1) Illasera in Sacred Grove
    2) merchant in Arcana Archives
    3) bartender in Tankard Tree tavern

Grandmaster's Armor also gives haste, but it has AC1. Even for thieves White Dragon Scale plus Boots of Speed is better.

Edit: Can't side with Bodhi, because Renal Bloodscalp disappears, and the boots cannot be pickpocketed from him. Another way to kill Arkanis Gath is to cast Protection from Magical Weapons instead of Time Stop, and hit him enough times with Chaos Blade.

There's one in Watcher's Keep iirc, for a total of 4 in SoA if you have ToB installed.

After returning from the Underdark Renal's boots becomes pickpocket-able. It's the standard way of getting the boots without using exploits. You cannot side with Bodhi if you want Renal's boots - he will disappear if you do so. You can try killing him before you side with Bodhi though. Not sure how that will turn out.

Edit: Nope, none in Watcher's Keep.

You can't pickpocket the boots. You can clean him out without getting the boots, and then you'll get a message about how there's no items left to pickpocket.

There's a safe way to get the boots without getting the attention of Arkanis though. I show it right here:

This must be because of a mod, or perhaps you need to speak with Linvail about fighting Bodhi first? Because I have always been pickpocketting him for it after chapter 6. You can even kill him for it - Arkanis Gath no longer appears.
