ive been trieng to reinstall it from a recccomemded install to a full so i dont have to change discs but now i cant even install it as a reccomended...it alwasy freezes up at the file tav4.acm. has this happened to anyone else?

  2. Are you talking about BGII or the original..if its the original, then you should go to that forum, if its the second, do you have TOB installed, and if its the second without TOB installed, as Extremist

tav4.acm is not SoA file. Are you sure it is the file the installer stops on?
The similar named files in SoA are tav4a.acm and tav4.mus.

Plus you haven't posted your system specs: operating system, graphics card and music card?

Finally, are you sure your CDs are all right? Try to copy them one by one on your hard drive to check if they are busted.

Yes, I am talking about SOA. It stops on 2 files, Tav3a.acm and Tav4a.acm. the discs check out fine and as far as system specs go I have a Pentium 4 400mhz, STB Nvidia TNT 16mb, Music is a TBS Montego 64 voice, the OS im running is windows 98. Also this is on the full install, when i try to do the reccomeneded install or minimum i got through everything then it asks for all the discs in order then it asks for disc 5. there is no disc 5, Ive tried TOB, the collectors edition disc and disc one again..nothing worked. Edit: data2.cab is corrupt.

You must contact Technical Support and replace CD2. data2.cab is on it.
    support@bioware.com

CD5 message is displayed if data on any CD is incorrect.

Also if any of your friends has CD2 you may use it instead of yours while you're waiting for new one from Support.

There is one thing more. You say you succeeded to copy CDs to HD. If that is so, then try to fake full install with performing a minimum one first:

the data2.cab file, or at least part of it, is ont cd1. THAT file is corrupt, specifically tav4a.acm. Im going to try contacting tech support and repace cd 1, i ment to edit in that cd1 didnt copy but the others did.

one last question, i think the file corrupted because of the disc getting scratched, is that still coverd and will they still replace it?
