    My top four:

    #1. Neverwinter Nights
#2. Civilization I-III (They're all about the same, so pick a version.)
    #3. Master of Orion II
    #4. Alpha Centauri

I don't really enjoy the click-fest type games as much. I prefer the more thought provoking, slower paced games.

    MOHAA?

For those of us who play few games, please use the name of the game rather than the acronym. Please. ;)

    1. Civilisation series, simply the best games ever. No other game is even close.

    2. Baldur's Gate 1-ToB, wicked RP fun. Especially SoA.

    3. Starcraft, best RTS ever.

    4. Planescape: Torment, really the best RPG ever dialogue and RP wise.

Okay, maybe i should have said it's full name. MOHAA stands for: Medal of honor allied assault.

Now don't tell me you've never heard of that. :D

Well, the BG and IWD series is right there at the top, along with fond memories of multiplayer Diablo. I wanted to mention a game that I haven't seen anyone else list. This is perhaps one of the most fun real-time strategy games to play...too bad its maker, Cavedog, went belly-up.

    Total Annihilation Kingdoms.

Simply awesome fun - to the point that I stayed up playing this with a friend when I had my college finals the next day. Its expansion pak, the Iron Plague, was great, too.

Maybe the best PC game I have played is, surprise; Baldur´s Gate II with ToB.

Off topic, but the best console game is, heh, the original classic: Super Mario Bros. :p At that time, of course.

1.Close Combat series (the war as it is in reality,no epic music just the sound of the guns and the screams of the wounded)
    2.BG2
3.Alpha Centauri (it has the best diplomacy I have ever seen in a strategy game)

    1. X-Com: UFO Defense
    2. Master of Magic
    3. Master of Orion
    4. Planescape: Torment
    5. Alpha Centauri
    6. Final Fantasy VII-VIII
    7. Civilization II
    8. Master of Orion II
    9. Baldur's Gate I -> ToB
    10. SimCity 1 through 4

Honorable Mention: Starflight II: Trade Routes of the Cloud Nebula.
If it were still playable (engine based on clock speeds back in the day of the 8088) it would be number 1. :)

Agree with almost all these games but I can't believe no one has mentioned one of the best RPG's ever, Fallout 1 and 2. Also have always loved the Wing Commander games.

Difficult to tell with the others but NWN definitely wouldn't be on the list.

FreeSpace 1 and 2 (for those who don't know, it's a space sim. The best created) It got a cool story and well.. you gotta try it.

Planescape Torment. Best story I've ever tried/heard.

    And Baldur's Gate (of course)

I really love games with a great story, can you guys suggest something?

Trillex, I highly recommend the Fallout games if you haven't tried them. Arcanum is also very good but not for everyone. Dues Ex is one of the best FPS shooters ever along with System Shock 2. You can get both the Fallout games for about 10 bucks.
