[IMG] What is your acceptable stats for a Fighter/Mage, and what is the best roll you ever made for one? Race is sort of irrelevant, but I guess an Elven Fighter/Mage would be what I had in mind. At least that´s what I always go with.

STR 18/xx (preferably 91-100 for bonuses early)
DEX 17-19 (preferably 18 for bonuses early, 19 only if you plan on heading into BG2 and really want the single point of AC from a DEX of 21 as compared to 18)
    CON 17
    INT 18
WIS 3 (possibly higher if you plan on doing BG2)
CHA 15-18 (possibly lower if you plan on doing BG2, and/or will take at least one high-CHA party member in BG1)

Good is 18/.. str and maxed out dex, con, int and cha and bumped wis which is obtainable with enough patience at rolling. My best roll was a total of 99 for a gnome fighter/illusionist IIRC.
A gnome F/I is far superior to an elf F/M btw.

I wholeheartedly agree. And it's hard to find a lot of people who share this point of view.

Everyone that does not sit down and crunch the actual numbers simply loves elves, that is why Klorox ;)

Or those who simply prefer Necro spells, but that's still aesthetics over numbers.

Not true, Raptor. I think Elves are so overrated it's not even funny. I remember everybody in my tabletop gaming groups wanting to play elves, and I'm still not getting the appeal.

My goodness, this racism towards Elves is killing me inside...
Well, nuff said. A bit off-topic, why only 3 Wisdom, Felinoid?

Well, with other stats being important, you need a dump somewhere. In BG1, WIS doesn't matter except for lore and priests. CHA could also be lowered if you have a high-CHA party member, as I said, but if you're going solo...well, I suppose there you don't really need it much either, since you'll be swimming in gold. *shrug*

Klorox, if you reread my post I actually agree with you :p

The people that likes elves doesn't like them becose they are better, but becose they are elves. Better is irrelevant. It's just the stereotypical teenage boys dream character, elf fighter/mage.
