Ok, this thing is on my computer. I didn't put it here. It chucks up adverts every few minutes. WHen I press ctrl+alt+del and close it, it opens itself up again. When I try to delete it out of Program Files it says the source file is being used by windows and I can't close it..

What do I do to make this thing go away?!?!

I have had pretty good luck using Ad-Aware to handle such problems. I don't remember the web site but the company who makes it is Lavasoft.

Hey, i had the same thing last week. That same friggin bargain buddy, and i couldn't get rid of it. I even had a few more, one of those things nested itself on my browser's toolbar, can you believe that ?

You need to get Spybot to get rid of it. And it wouldn't hurt to have Ad aware running in the background either.

Once you remove it, bump up your security settings to stop it from coming back (or get a firewall).

You might also wish to download NoAds from http://www.southbaypc.com/NoAds/.

It has a basic list of annoying windows and it only needs you to target a new window once for it not to get closed immediately when it appears again. My list is 14KB long now :D

The Internet is getting to the point where you practically have to declare war on advertisments, I'm afraid. I don't even remember a Net without banners and pop-ups.
