If I give a bard 1 level of wizard or sorcerer, does that mean I can use any wizard magic device, wand, scroll etc without putting any points into use magic device? Also, I will never take damage by miscasting? Can higher level scrolls be used with only one level of wizard? I am not sure how use magic device works exactly but I assume I could use either wizard or druid specific scrolls. So, if I do add a wizard level but no use magic device points, I will not be able to use non-wizard scrolls, wands etc: Correct? Does a wand or scroll suffer from spell failure while wearing armor?

Finally, do these rules hold for NWN1, 2 also?

Any main class with a mix-in of sorc/wiz can, yes.
Spell Failure in armour: Yes. NWN2: dunno
a druid mix-in could enable the use of all druid items and scrolls. All mix-ins allow for the use of their classes' items. There may be a INT/WIS/CHA requirement though, i'm not sure. If you took most of the 11 classes as mix-ins you'd be able to use practically any item. But it would put you nearly 10 levels behind in your main class, and many mix-ins are barely useful.
Also, casting certain spells as a level 1 caster would be quite useless late in the game, burdening a powerful scroll-casting with a low Difficulty Class (low DC means all enemies will resist. and/or durations are short, and/or effects are minor)

You will end up with a mulit-classing penalty on your xp remember. It's not too bad but it will make leveling up slower
