I'm having trouble sneak attacking with my rogue, every time I sneak up on some one and attack while hidden and flank people I never get the sneak attack. What's going on!?

some monsters may be immune to. are you attacking from behind ? flank attacks may not work.
oh and did you know : as long as your target fights with another partymember of yours you can attack from behind without being hidden and always get backstab multiplier. just don't have your foe turn to the thief.

You don't need only to be hidden, but not heard too for sneak attack to work.

To be hidden helps to get behind an enemy. But for sneak attack to work the enemy shouldn't hear you - you need some points in Move Silently also.

Also, there are certain weapons which you *cannot* backstab with. Including a couple of short swords I've come across. Read through the description of all your items; it might specifially say something like "due to the nature of this sword, it cannot be used to backstab".

...you can sneak attack repeatedly on the same target or did I misunderstand? While figthing only one enemy?

    I think yes.

When a "melee party" goes on (my party against other) and nobody attacks my rogue, I use micromanagement to get behind some "busy" enemies and sneak attack them.

Maybe you can do that with one enemy while he is busy with other party members.

Imagine the reality - when you would fight 5 opponents and one would get behind you, you would be an target of "backstabbing". Not only once. If you would turn to him, other opponents would be behind your back.

I have thought that it only works once, but it does make sence that if you are behind the opponent then why not. This makes my rogue really worth something.

Do I have to hide when trying to stab or do I just leave it attacking the enemy behind?

I haven't played for more than two months.

    Just try and check.

If I find some time, I can try too - and post it here.
