I have a observation and I want to be confirmed (or not). My mage/thief encounter a spellcaster, who cast Stoneskin. I run, hide in shadow, come behind him and backstab, with message "backstab 5x damage etc.", but without doing damage. I run and did again the same thing, this time doing damage. So, the question is if backstab count as 5 hits, removing 5 skins, because I don't think that the spellcaster was level 5, with only one skin.

No it condenses 5x the damage into one attack, so it takes out one stoneskin. 1 stoneskin for every 2 levels of the caster its usually best to breach first =)

thats the way it works.. thats why I always use Stoneskin with Mirror image.. so that.. its almost impossible to hit me.. and if you do.. you'll have to hack away at many layers to actually deal me damage..

if you can use contingency or sequencer spells and need a way to protect your mage from melee attacks quickly.. use that combination

    YES!

The stoneskin/mirror image combo is great! I have my F/M/T use it all of the time...with an Improved Invis thrown in for good measure. Go in...Backstab....then cast sunfire...rince, repeat, and then POOF! All baddies gone :)

Yes, stoneskin can cancel physical hit damage, but it can't prevent magical damage from piercing, so if an assasin coats his dagger with poison, mage shall be hurt as well.

So, if you were to hit a stoneskinned mage with some weapon which does non-physical damage, like Gnasher club or Flail or Ages, would it cause damage?

yes, magical effect will go through such as fire/cold damage, you'd cast prot from magical weapon to stop this.
