    My wife's a Mac person and went out and got one of these for us. Apparently, its benefits are -- it allows you to stream Netflix to you TV (we have no Blue Ray or console to do that for us), it allows the household computers (or at least her Mac) to talk to the TV and play music, movies, etc. wirelessly, it was only $99 and has no monthly extra charges, and it's really small and unobtrusive.

    Given that my movie watching on the TV (netflix or whatever) is really minimal and I'm perfectly happy watching whatever I have on the computer on, y'know, the computer, I'm wondering if this was just a waste of $99 to make my wife happy.

    Thoughts?

    Funny how some people enjoy watching TV content on the PC... I never do it if I can help it. I mean, my chair's ok for mostly work and playing games, but the sofa is still infinitely more appealing when it comes to enjoying movies and TV series.

    Anyways, when I saw this thread I was like, WTH, Apple is making TVs now too??? But it's actually this little box:

    I suppose it depends on what you (and she) will use it for. If it's only used for Netflix, then there are plenty of other devices that do that as well as other things (inlcuding as you mentioned, many Bluray players; even some TVs include Netflix streaming capability).

    Lol Tal I use my Home theater PC on my hdtv in my bedroom so I can either sit in my chair or sit on the bed or floor to watch Tv on my pc on my tv with surround sound and everything.

    Teen Snook has also been bugging me to get one of these. He wants to be able to stream from his PC and from the family iPad (which is he trying to take ownership of) to the family room television and surround sound.
